If you bring your license with you to court, it usually gets dropped. I am a cop and I agree.....that is a pretty "pimpy" ticket. I don't waste ink writing those.....unless the person acts like a jerk.

Why do you expect to get the ticket thrown out? The law states that not only must you possess a driver's license, but that you must have it WITH you while driving. You broke the law, you deserve the ticket.

Why must you have your license with you? There are a couple of reasons:

If you are seriously injured in an accident.......how can the authorities notify your family that you've been hurt (or killed) if they cannot identify you?

What if you are pulled over because your car matches one witnessed leaving the scene of a crime ... how could you prove who you are and that you are not the criminal the police are looking for?

What if you cause an accident? How do the police know who to charge with the crime?

The ticket you got was NOT crappy. It was valid. Sorry. You'll have to pay the penalty.

Take your ticket and your license to the Prosecutor's office in the courthouse ASAP. They would like to save the court time if possible, so get in there and talk to them right away. Usually, they will reduce or drop the charge if you have an otherwise clean record. Consider taking the Drivers' Ed class if are given the option. It will help keep you from paying more on your insurance.

Some states have what is referred to as a "fix-it" ticket that is used for stuff like this and for equipment violations. If that's what you got, you can go to the police station and have it signed off and nothing goes to court. If you got a regular infraction citation with a court date, then just show up with your license and the judge will probably dismiss it then. And like someone ahead of me said, be respectful.

I would say absolutely. The cop must have been having a bad day. I was pulled over previously, and did not have my license. I gave the cop my license number, because I just happened to know it, and he let me go for that. I would say you should go to court on the day of your scheduled appearance, instead of pleading guilty and see what the jugde says. I honestly believe he will throw it out. It really is a crappy ticket!

You should have a certain number of days to furnish proof of license and if you show the court you have a license during that time period you should be fine. You may be charged with a lesser offense of not providing proof of license which is much better than the charge of driving without a license.

Most likely if you go to court, they will give you probation after you furnish proof of having a license. But, it is illegal to drive anywhere without your license, even if you have one. That is the reason you are issues one.

Now, I am guilty of running to the conveniece store down the road without it, but if stopped, I would be in violation, and deserving of a ticket.

Depends on the law of the state, but generally if you go to the court with the ticket and the license, it will be dismissed as if it never happened. Most states require you to be licensed, but actually having it in your possession is not required to drive.

Sorry, that is still a good ticket. I, however, would not write that ticket. I would run them and make sure that it is you (verifying your soc, dob, hgt, wgt, etc). I would just issue a warning not to do it again. I forget stuff all the time. That is what we like to call a "chicken **** ticket."

In our area, the police would normally run your number and ok it but if you did get a ticket, if you showed your license to the judge he would normally just dismiss it
