Indeed, it is. I am a Satanist. We are Atheists. God and Satan do not exist, and heaven and hell are false. When you die you die so live your life to the fullest now and show kindness and love to those who deserve it. For more information read the Satanic Bible by Anton Szandor Lavey. Do not let closed minded Christians stop you from becoming knowledgeable.

YES!

I'm the equivalent of a theistic Satanist, so I will admit, "To a Christian, I pay homage to Satan's many masks. [I use the Hellenistic deities as my friends and advisers, but I do realize connections that all gods have between culture, Thoth is Hermes, etc.]" But my true worship is to myself, and true will [Yes, I have some Thelemite in me...]

The Modern Satanists get a horrible misunderstanding, with the whole "Stupidity of people," because people do not research past a single word. however, Modern Satanist would be worse than Devil Worshipers to a Christian, because they ar emulating their Devil, as opposed to following.

I enjoy many Satanists. Modern, and Theistic.

Good to see someone with a brain here. It seems that most brainy people flit in and out of "online-ness," while the Christians stay on all nightt and day.. Including Sunday..

It's greatly misunderstood by most christians who aren't aware that it is the creation of a carnival sideshow performer who was looking for a little extra cash and realized that there were a significant number of teenyboppers and misfits who would pay for an identity that would outrage their mommies, daddies and neighbors. So, he wrote a book almost as ridiculous as the bible, opened a "church" in his apartment and conned gullible women into romping around naked for his amusement. Not much different (except for the costuming and props) from most any other religion.

well as an agnostic i would have to say that agnosticism and atheism is pretty misunderstood but yes i would say that satanism as well as paganism and certain other religions are pretty misunderstood and modern day satanism isn't as violent a religion as people like to make it out to be i think people are still caught up on the traditional theistic satanism that they fail to realize that anton szandor lavey's satanism is more or less atheistic and not what they would expect it to be

Yes!

Most people do not take the time to understand the philosophy before they bash it. All they do is blindly accept the silly ideas of the Christians!
They do not realize one simple truth. Satanism has NOTHING to do with SATAN!!! The figure of Satan is a repersentation of man's nature! IT IS NOT A REAL BEING!! NEVER WAS NEVER WILL BE!!

The belief in or worship of devils (in this case: satan) is the basis of Satanism. How then can one been an Atheist? Even when they say they are a Satanist? And How can you believe in Satan without believing in his creator, God? How can you serve as Satans worshipper without acknowledging God? Why take a risk of being sent to Hell for worshipping other that God? Why not let the covenant of the Son of God, Jesus Christ cleanse you of all evil mindness that is within you? I ask this to you not on the basis of my own faith. But for those that have knowledge of the truth.

Absolutely. The trouble is that it has such a negative portrayal by the ignorant (and the media), that many curious people are afraid to actually learn anything about it. And as we've learned from the Fundie Xians on here: If you don't understand it, condemn it!
