Ok so my freind Alice is getting married and she noticed i have a real nack for party orginising so she put ME as her wedding planner. She has decided on the theme "winter wonderland" and it is in australia so it does NOT snow but it is really cold. We are heading out to a place called belgenny farm, http://www.belgennyfarm.com.au/weddings_and_functions.

We just took a look at it two days ago and we settled on it. Now we need to find a dress, is there any website u could reccomend that has winter wedding dress' and what colours should we use , i was thinking of a ivory, sage and icy blue but what do u think??? we also need to find some center peices

we dont want them to be cheap and shabby but we want them to be unique and interesting

remeber we r in australia so we dont celebrate christmas in winter

=)

First of all the venue looks amazing and will be a beautiful background for a beautiful event! I answered a question earlier about a winter-snowflake themed wedding. Even if she isn't into the snowflake thing, there are still many great winter options. I would go with a pale blue, white, and silver for the colors. I would definately go all out with a winter theme. Lots of white lights, silver and mirrored tiles for the base on tables, etc.

Cneterpiece/deocration link: The simplicity of this would work with the rustic look of your venue, but still be classy and intriguing for guests. Just make sure to top the sand with glass rocks in silver, blue and clear-to give the illusion of ice.

Find trees like these that just give the whimsical winter feeling:

Place card holders that would work with the winter theme:

For gowns, I like some of these, but then you get a shawl made to coordinate with it, maybe with a white fur trim, to further incorporate the winter look:

Also, the blue on this dress looks extremely bright int he picture, but I believe it is more of a pale color, but this could work:

This would be an amazing gown, and with a shawl to go with it, beautiful:

Bridesmaids gowns: again, have a shawl to match and it would be great: you could either have it in the "peri" color or the "titanium" color:

In blue frost:

Another beautiful gown if you get a shwal:

Good luck and tell her congrats! Oh yea-you have fun!

I like the dress, very sophisticated. And I do not view it as a summer only dress. I was expecting to see tulle and see thru lace! It will be easy to find things to go with it. Yes, gloves would work well with the dress. Elbow length kid gloves would be lovely, and very retro, the golden age of Hollywoodish. Consider a shrug or a jacket or a bolero for the church if you think it will be cold in there. Could take it to the reception just in case. There are capes available for brides for the outdoors, some long, some with hoods, some "fur" trimmed. Grab a winter Bride's magazine and see what is out there. Consider closed toe shoes. And consider finding and buying a pair of boots that look vaguely bridal, that you could wear in inclement weather, and just slip off, and into your shoes. I might be looking for a bridal umbrella, too, try for a white one, or one in your bridal colors. Or just go nuts and get a big umbrella with wild designs, that would be cute for the pictures. The boots and the umbrella would not be a waste of money if the weather is nice, considering where you live, lots of opportunities to use them before and after the wedding. Best be prepared for Kansas January weather, chances are fairly good you might get some kind of precipitation. I live near St. Louis, and our weather is similar here a lot. I believe that if I prepare for something bad, it won't happen. So I would gear up for precipitation, frozen or otherwise. It would be cute and possibly necessary to wear a pair of long johns, bridal inspired of course. Put your garter on top, and wait to see your groom's face when he goes to get your garter. A pair of tights, opaque would be warmer might be called for. Leggings would work in a pinch, too.

wow, what an honor! planning the wedding will be exciting and frustrating! it will be filled with laughter and tears! you will enjoy it all and get such great satisfaction from it!
i couldn't get the site to come up so i am not sure if the location is formal or what, but your gowns should reflect the wedding site. you don't want anything to clash! to me a winter wedding gown brings visions of a strapless, or spaghetti strap, gown, with a bolero jacket with a mandarin collar. the gown in whatever fabric the bride wants her gown in and the jacket could be maybe velvet - for warmth - with a mariboo fur trim around the collar and cuffs. that way she has the warmth needed for any outdoor photographs and the comfort of taking the jacket off once inside.
i'd stick with off white for the wedding gown, [tho her jacket could be one of the other colors you mentioned, with off-white mariboo fur trim.] bring any additional color into the scene with the attendent's gowns, and the flowers. your color thoughts are gorgeous! i'm glad to see you thinking off white - quite often white just doesn't suit the bride but an off white would be grand, whether it is ivory, cream, or any other variations of white.

table center pieces: what about photos, [copies of originals], of the bride and groom as they were growing up? each table could have two or three different photos of the bride and/or groom as babies, kids, teenagers - various stages of their lives. they encourage conversations and they get people mingling while they check out all the photos. copy the photos on a black and white photocopier even if the photos are in color. it will make a much more dramatic presentation. plain paper photocopies will work as you will be putting them in picture frames and they will look as good as a proper reprint of a photo. you can buy wood frame quite inexpensive and paint them in either the wedding colors or plain black. place framed photos on the table and trail ivy in and around the photos. photos should only be about 4"x6" at the most and three per table should do it. place a 6" or 8" chunky candle in the center of the table on a small circular mirror with the photos surrounding the candle and voila a unique and fun centerpiece! if you don't want candles how about a chunky glass vase with fresh flowers? not structured bouquets, but flowers looking as tho they were just plucked from the garden and put in water? doesn't have to be roses, could be daisies, mums, hydrangeas, whatever her favourite flower is. the vases don't have to match. some round, some square, some tall, some not, but clear glass and that will unify them all.
i wish you well with all your exciting ideas, and best wishes to the bride and groom!
have fun with it all and keep your sense of humor!

My future sister in law is made her own winter wedding dress for their wedding in 3 weeks (she's an accomplished seamstress). She wanted sleeves - which I thought was VERY appropriate for winter weddings. I'm not into bare arms in the cold myself and had a very hard time finding a dress for me and for my flower girl daughter that had sleeves.

They have a "snow flake" theme and the colors are white & ice blue - accented by some navy and sliver. With some winter greenery for accent. They are using a lot of crystal as well.

Ivory in the evening might work well - but beware that it doesn't end up looking "dirty" if you are going for more crisp look - and I love sage (although I'm having trouble picturing it with the blue - what about chocolate brown?) .

For a dress: you could find a pattern and a seamstress - it gives you much more control over the details and can often be less expensive. Vogue, Butterick, McCalls, are the main pattern companies (check out vogue patterns in particular - like these:)

Some examples of dresses I've not seen in shops in my shopping with her:

Also it's a bit late - but check on-line at American sites. They made out like bandits at after Christmas sale snow-flake items.

good luck

Looks like a great location...as for a dress you should be going towards "snowy" pastels. Lavendar, Plum and Silver are going to be big this year, so you might want to work those in somehow.
