Socrates was a Greek philosopher in Ancient times. He was killed by being forced to drink poison for his beliefs, making him a martyr, I guess. What he meant by that quote is that life should be studied and the surroundings inspected, or else, there is no point in living. In other words he was saying, life is not worth the living if you do not learn.

Socrates was a greek philosopher who was the teacher of Plato who in turn taught Aristotle. Socrates was saying if you do not examine your life and just merely live it out with out thought or deep perception this is not woth living for you have not tottally discovered everything that you can about life. I concur with this view and funnily enough i am born on the same day as Socrates 20th May The day of Prolific Expression. Socrates was sentenced to death for impiety and died calmly drinking a cup of poisined hemlock. (Impiety:Lack of reverence for God or sacred things.)

Socrates was an ancient Greek philosopher who tought people many methods of thinking. Socrates spoke these words to the jury in the court of Athens in the year 399 BCE (before the common era) after he had been found guilty of heresy and sedition. Heresy, a crime that threatened the established religion, and sedition, that threatened the state. He choose to die for his belief rather than deny them.

socrates was a greek philsopher. he meant that a life when you dont think about who you are, things you do, examine who you really are then you really aren't doing anything worthwhile. if you arent gaining knowledge about yourself then you are not living life worth living. he placed a lot of respect and value on knowledge so if he wasnt learning more about who he was then he didnt think his life was worth living.
