There are air nailers for most any purpose- I think we have over 20.
Nails are individual to the gun style, not universal. Guns are designed for a purpose (framing, siding, roofing, finish, etc) and each has a nail size range they will handle.
In most gun styles, you have choices of nail types and sizes. Some are spiral, some are ring-shank, many are cement coated.
Start with what you want the gun to do, (like framing) look for the guns designed for that purpose, and then at the nails available for those guns.
Most builder-type lumber yards can help.
