Parvo is a generic term generally used for the dog form of this virus. There is a large "family" of parvo viruses, while they are similar they are species specific; dogs only get the dog form, cats get a cat form, humans get a human form etc they do not cross infect. (now the virus can be "carried", like the dog form parvo can be transferred dog to dog from your clothing or shoes or other environmental elements but you don't actually infect the dog.). Other than some parasites there are few diseases that can be transferred back and forth. Leptospirosis is one, which is why most dogs are routinely vaccinated against it.

I have heard both ways, so I am really not positive. I would think that humans could not get it, but you might want to check with your vet. If you have recently had a dog die of parvo you also need to check with the vet on what the next steps would be for you to take as in cleaning your house and prevention of other animals contracting the disease. I found a stray one time and two days later he died of parvo and I could not have a pet for a year after that.

There is a human parvo virus that is one of the flues that you get flu shots for. However, dogs get a totally different strain of parvo virus, and people can't catch that one.

No, not from a dog. Though there is a human strain, and feline, they cannot cross over from dog-human or vice versa. Humans can, however, spread the virus to their dog ... buy stepping on another dogs feces etc ... and carrying the virus back home with them.
