Depends on what city you work for. Generally speaking FBI agent makes more. And the FBI would have a wider range in jobs.

Depends on where you work for SWAT. Some larger areas have full time SWAT teams. Most smaller areas have officers who perform other duties, but train to do SWAT as well. That is all dependant on the city you are serving with.

FBI agents are paid fairly well. If you are looking into the FBI, it is very tough, and they now pretty much require a Master's Degree. Currently they are heavily recruiting Lawyers and CPA's. Also, the average person applies to the FBI three or four times before being selected. My cousin's wife is a very respected lawyer, and she applied four times before she was accepted. Now she is serving, but it took a couple years.
