Only those on the approved pick up list can pick up my kids at school. The school's will not release them without I.D. and they must also have pre-approval.

Depends on where you live. In most places you have to tell the school who is allowed to pick the child up and that person must show proper ID. If you list someone as the father or mother the school must allow that person to pick the child up (in the US) unless there is a court order stating the parent can not do so.

The only people allowed to pick up my kids from school are me and their father and a friend of ours when I don't get there on time (I do the same for her kids). We had to write a note at the beginning of the school year to allow her. The teacher knows our faces so it's not that big of a deal.

Most schools or daycares have an approved list for picking up their children. So if that's the system then you need to authorize anyone who is to pick up your child. I have a list at daycare of people that can pick up my son
