Isn't the complexity in the world enough for you? How do you explain the things we don't see such as compassion, mercy, hope, faith, awe, inspiration, motivation, relationships? Is this some accident? How do you explain these things? I am curious to know! How do you find hope or purpose in even breathing or continuing another day?

Uhm...I am not an atheist, but I think I know the answers. They use logic and science to prove Biblical things wrong. They go like, God creating a person? Impossible!
They don't care about this stuff, they just want to live their current life to the most. But they don't think about the future, eternity.

Isn't the complexity in the world enough for you?

???I don't understand the question.

How do you explain the things we don't see such as compassion, mercy, hope, faith, awe, inspiration, motivation, relationships? Is this some accident?

Certain human behaviors have been selected for by natural selection....there are others that you don't mention like war, infidelity, lying, cheating, infanticide, etc.

How do you find hope or purpose in even breathing or continuing another day?

The purpose of life is to leave a legacy. This can be done through genes or memes. My memes are evolution and atheism.

As for the complexity issue, that is easy. No great designer was needed for the Creator to come into existence, so we clearly see that complex things can happen without the intervention of a designer. So, if we can get this complex Creator with no "design", why not everything else?

As for a purpose, isn't getting to live this life enough for you? Isn't that an awesome enough experience? I don't understand you people who gloss right over the simple experience of life.

I, personally, do believe in a spiritual energy that lives forever beyond our physical bodies. I see no reason for there to be some overlord governing it. However, if this were all I felt I had, I would want to live every minute of it as fully as possible. Life itself is enough motivation.

It was not an accident, but a very complex interaction between the simple elements of the early universe which have built upon each other over trillions of years. Beyond that, I don't know how it happened, and that's okay.

Well first off to Melodie-- no you DON'T know the answers... obviously. Every single thing you said was false.

second of all.. The complexity.. liek that one guy said.. further trust in science.. why would God make a world so complex that we can't understand it... and lose faith in him through science?

ow do i explain these tings? becasue of what you observe and what you are taught is right and wrong.. these feeling develop from inside you... remember "MINDS"

How do i find purpose? So that i can contribute to the world and not just be born and leave without nothing. I have purpose becasue i have hope for a better future.. to LIVE. Isn't that enough? I don't have to have a god over me telling me ill be punished for doing wrong or ill be awarded for doing good when i die to make me keep living.

No evidence suggests there is a god. Your argument is that a complex universe requires a more complex creator. Well that in turn would argue a more complex creator and a more complex on for that one and so on. You have created an upward spiral of complexity which isn't logical and don't have any evidence to back it up.

The other things are pretty easily explained by evolution. It is in our interest to be all those things in order that we survive as a species.

I don't need to make things up to enjoy life. Douglas Adams said "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" That really sums it up.

Because I love myself, I am the most important person to me. I am my own Goddess and I satisfy my own needs and desires. If I put myself first, then everyone around me benefits (my husband and children) because I am happy and fulfilled, actually, never fulfilled (that would be truly boring) - I am constantly developing and recreating my environment as my conscience expands with all the knowledge that it acquires through personal pursuits of happiness. Being subservient to a God just doesn't fit into my lifestyle. The Bible contradicts itself constantly on what it attempts to claim that God is ... If the God of the Bible were true then he is an ******** and more evil that what Christians claim Satan is. He's certainly not a higher source that I would devote my life to. So either way, I don't acknowledge his existence.

Because, you say that all other religions are wrong, and do nothing but deny them, but when someone remotely says "I don't believe in God"...You have a hissy fit. You are a total hypocrite, let alone the fact, if we all believed what we read in fiction books, the world would be even more f*cked up than it already is. I know I offended someone, but there is no possible way of talking about this subject without someone being insulted. Sorry, but you really shouldn't try to push your religion on others, I don't try and convert you, now do I?? All I honestly believe, is that we, are, human. We breath, talk, learn, and motivate...It is the human way, whether you think so or not, we are animals, and we evolved from them, but I don't want to shove my beliefs on you, now do I? That would be rude!!

I have a purpose. I want to live my life. I want to enjoy the good and get through the bad. I don't see a need to worship someone who takes credit for the good and doesn't do anything about the bad.

God seems to lack all the qualities you feel are human. On the other hand, perhaps that is because they are natural qualities which we share with many other species while god is unnatural, in the extreme.

Go in peace to love and serve the truth.

Actually, the very complexity of the world, for me, is one of the main reasons for there not being a god. Why, as an example, are fingerprints unique. Does your god design every single one?
Why 800 species of tarantula?

compassion, mercy, hope, faith, awe, inspiration, motivation, relationships. Emotions - bio-chemical reactions to ensure successful reproduction.

Hope and purpose have nothing to do with winning a golden ticket to the celestial theme park. My life and drive are based around me, my family, my social groups. My victories, my failures, my responsibilities.

It's very liberating.

Because I love my family, my boyfriend, my friends, my career. They are what gives me purpose. Surely you can see that can't you?

I don't need to believe in a book or something up in the sky to be compassionate, merciful, hopeful, faithful (to my own beliefs and to the above mentioned people in my life, not to some supreme who tells me what to think and what to do) awestruck, inspired and motivated . Is it only your belief in God that makes you a nice person? Personally, I find that much sadder.

You don't have any of the answers you are asking about, you simply avoid using your brain by saying "God did it". You are intellectually lazy, otherwise you would be researching these answers for yourself. If you indeed had the smarts you're pretending to have, you wouldn't be asking these questions.
The reason that atheists are atheists is because they use their own brains. The reason you're a theist is because you let somebody else do your thinking.
Please don't try to sound like your using logic.--If you were able to think logically you would not be a theist.
Watching a theist trying to use logic, is like watching an American use chop sticks. You look foolish.
