Why do most teens wait to have sex?

most teens choose not to partake in any sexual activity, why?

Obviously teens "want" to have sex because their bodies are full of new hormones.
They choose not to because they realize it would be disruptive to their lives, their self-esteem, their happiness, their studies, their future.
