Put out a dish of strong smelling fish like tuna. Most cats will come running. Some cats will respond to the sound of an electric can opener, too.

Good answer from Jessica M. I was going to suggest it. My cat is 100% indoors--I mean, really! Sometimes she goes into "cat warp" when certain people come in, & I know she has at least 4 secret places I'll never find. She'll stay hidden until she's READY to come out. But once, I ws looking for her, (I always worry if I can't find her), & I heard this teeny "Ne-Ow" that I simply couldn't locate for ever so long. Somehow, I'd closed a dresser drawer on her without even seeing her. I hadn't "missed" her for quite awhile, & when I found her, the poor little thing had pooed in the drawer. Like an idiot, after cleaning it out, I put it on the floor & poured Clorox in it! Now I have a big bleach spot on my hall carpet. I was so upset about the whole thing. I've never seen a cat behave in a "trick" playing way, just hiding to irritate you or get your attention. She knows to stay away from some people before they get in the door, thus her "cat warp," yet with others, she goes right up & talks to them. & I always agree with her about the people! I worry since when a cat is ill, or hurt, he/she will also crawl away some place. & unless you're as paranoid as I, it is possible your cat slipped out the door? An open window? Bet she's come out by now!

I have a scardie cat too. She is almost 16 and I still don't know all of her hiding places! (She is an indoor only cat.) I think you should just wait. She will come out when she feels it is safe to do so. Whenever I tried to force her out, she was even more miserable. If you have checked dangerous places where it is not safe for her to be, I am sure she will be fine.

THIS IS A COMMON GAME THAT CATS PLAY!!! CONSIDERING I HAVE BEEN AROUND CATS ALL OF MY LIFE, I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE!!!! EITHER YOUR CAT HAS GONE INTO A ZONE IN YOUR HOUSE AND IS AFRAID TO GET OUT, OR JUST PLAYING A TRICK ON YOU!!! CATS ARE VERY TRICKY!!! THEY LOVE TO SNEAK UP ON YOU WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT!! EVERYNOW AND THEN JUST JIGGLE A PAIR OF KEYS... OR SHAKE THE FOOD BAG, OR EVEN SIFT THROUGH THE CATS LITER AND THE CAT WILL COME OUT!!!

She will come out when she is ready. Just make sure you have not accidentally shut her in somewhere where she cannot get out. One time my cat slipped into the car as I was getting out, and he was in there almost 24 hours before we found him.

The cat will come out when he/she is hungry enough.
Now, do you think the cat could have gotten out?

put out her favorite food. make food making noises, like opening cans or handling the bag her food is in.
also, make sure you check that she is not stuck in a drawer that got closed or something. try and be quiet. if she got stuck somewhere she will probably start meowing soon
