God's ways are usually not our ways. Ask that God give you the stength to get through whatever God might put in front of you.

If you are asking with the purpose of getting something - the prayer is a selfish one.

If there is a God that answers prayers, considering God seems to be trying to encourage selflessness, then it seems God might ignore that prayer.

You hear a friend was in a car accident. You pray they live. They die anyway. Hateful God or was that prayer really made because YOU don't want to experience the loss of a friend? Remember, if you believe in God (in the Judeo-Christian sense) your friend is going to a better place - wouldn't it be selfish to ask God to keep them around in pain as they heal up rather than go to paradise?

If you pray for God to do what's best for said friend, then no matter what happens, the prayer has been answered as according again to Judeo-Christian thought, only God could answer the question of what is best for your friend.

Pray without ceasing. Make sure you're a Christian in good standing with God. That means you're saved. Most saved people have there finger on the pulse of God and their prayers are more in line with God's will; thus, their prayers are answered. I've been praying for a 2007 Red 5 speed Corvette. Guess what? He answered my prayers. It was no. LOL

God knows our hearts better than we know ourselves and He knew what you were going to ask before you asked.
God sometimes wants us to wait upon Him to build our faith. Plus God's time is not like our time, so be patient. If the prayer was spoken in love and truth and not selfishness then He will reveal the answer to you when the time is right.

Read your Bible or buy one if you don't already own one, keep praying and try to find a church.

If you are already attending a church get involved in a service that you could do for God (ex. play an instrument during praise and worship, sing in the choir, help with the children's church). God blessed us with many talents so think of the best way you could bless Him?

Also, God may want you to be more open to other people's needs around you than always thinking of yourself. He may be testing you to see if you are willing to serve Him before He answers. It really all comes down to where your heart is...God Bless

Just remember, some times God's greatest blessing is an unanswered prayer. Many times in life...and some times it seems a lot longer than you'd like it to take...you'll see the reason, and this could be after months or even years have passed. A lot of times we don't see that what we're asking for, really is not good for us, until we get older.

Asking the Almighty God is a kind of worship because you recognize Him as the provider and cherisher. You can keep asking Him because it shows that he is the only One who can help.
Muslim believe that the more you ask, the more He is pleased (and does not consider you as greedy). Howeve, do not always assume that your request has not been accepted. It may be accepted but what you ask for may not be good for you in His signt and you receive something in other form.

That is a very personal question. Personally I would pray once and wait a while. If it was about someone's health I would pray everyday. If it was about myself (attitude, behavior, strenghts, weaknesses,goals..ect) I would pray every other day. If it was for something material I would pray maybe once or twice. And if itwas for winning something I would pray right before the contest or whatever. This is my own system you should make your own (sometimes I sway from my system depending on what I'm asking for) Hope I helped ~Monicurl

depends on what it is - some things need your support & maybe God (whichever "God" that may be...) needs to see how serious you are in prayer & what you're praying for. Others, i'd suppose should be left in the hands of God. (If it has to do w. someone else - remember they have their own "will".) Hopefully you'll know which one's more suitable ~

keep asking and then work in harmony with your prayers. like if you ask with help to stop smoking, you cant still be puffing up hoping for a miracle. work with your prayers and keep asking. too, sometimes the answer is no or not now.
