how old do you have to be (in Buffalo NY or NY) to get a piercing without parental consent?

i dont know how the laws work, whether its local or state wide, but i was just wondering. lots of people tell me 16 but i thought it was 18. now im reading that its 16 with parental consent but i know 13 year olds with lip rings. someone set this straight.

You need to be 18 or have a parent/guardian present.

Make sure you go to a reputable place. Ask your friends whose piercings you admire where they got them done, and the name of their piercer. Alternatively, check out a few different places. Ask for price estimates, and observe the parlor. Make sure that they are operating under license, that the studio itself is clean, that the piercer uses "single-use" needles (these are higher quality than "disposable" needles), and that everything is sterilized or in a sterile seal prior to use. The piercer should also be able to discuss aftercare with you.

Remember not to let a piercer persuade you to do something you do not feel comfortable doing. If the situation is sketch, leave. Better to be paranoid that have a nasty, inflamed, pussing, rejected piercing.

According to Federal law for body modification nation wide(this includes but is not limited to tattoo's, piercings, branding and scarring), you MUST be a minimum age of eighteen before getting a piercing in ALL 50 states!!

I are living in NYC and you'll be able to move to any save in St.Marks to get it performed. I honestly have the tongue internet piercing and I am a minor. You can move to the store around the smokes save. It is shady and they do not ask for I.D however they open the needle in entrance of you and mine in all healed and it's any such adorable piercing.
