Dennis Neilson, civil servant from London,. killed young men and kept their corpses for months afterwards, if he was feeling lonely when watching tv,he used to bring a dead body out of his wardrobe to keep him company. He was also a necrophiliac. He disposed of the bodies by boiling the remains and flushing them down the toilet.

No such thing as a 'good serial killer' Infamous is the word. I still think that the case that really chilled the soul within the UK was that of the Moors Murderers. Not the numbers like Shipman, Bundy etc but the circumstances were absolutely horrific.

Can you have a better serial killer? lol. Apparently 80% of the worlds serial killers live in the US, I have read that many times. Serial killers are as american as apple pie apparently, so they said. I watch forensic files alot too, loads of serial killers on that programme. The one I remember is that David Berkowitz, what the son of Sam was based on. I definitely think the US has more, they are more notorious. I can't really say which is the best though? All are pretty bad.

I also think that the uk remembers it's serial killers more because it is very shocking and rare to happen here. It is probably a very common occurance in the us. Type in notorious serial killers and you will probably get a whole heap of american names.

According to an FBI Behavioral Unit study serial killing has almost climbed to an epidemic proportion. Up to 85% of the world's serial killers are in America. At any given time, 20 - 50 unidentified active serial killers continually change their targets, and methods.

U.S.A. - The Night stalker (Ramirez?), Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacey, Henry Lee Lucas, Aillen Carol Wuornos, Kenneth Allen McDuff, Arthur John Shawcross & Jeoffrey Dahmer - not sure they're 'the best' but they certainly seem to be the most prolific. On the other hand, we (the U.K.) have Jack the Ripper, The Yorkshire Ripper, Fred & Rosemary West and the Ipswich 'Ripper' (strangler) a sad testament to our times, but true nonetheless. I suppose the U.S.A. wins due to the sheer amount of bodies falling. By the way, did Charles Manson actually kill any of the victims or did he only 'incie' it? Does he count?

harold shipman. uk wins! at least 250 kills, maybe as many as 400

most kills -

"Thug Behram, a gang leader of the Indian Thuggee cult of assassins, has frequently been said to be the world's most prolific serial killer. According to numerous sources, he was believed to have murdered 931 victims by strangulation by means of a ceremonial cloth (or rumal, which in Hindi means handkerchief), used by his cult between 1790 and 1830, thus holding the record for the most murders directly committed by a single person in history"

Without a doubt, America has produced more serial killers than any other country in the world.

The Thugees were not "serial killers" they were ASSASSINS, they do not belong in this answer.

The FBI has stated there are as many as 150 active serial killers in the US at any one time.

While Dr. Shipman was certainly prolific, Dr. Henry Hughes of Chicago in the 1800s killed as many as 450 in his Castle of Horror.

And Jack the Ripper? Please, He only killed 5 victims. That doesnt even rate a blurb on the evening News in the US.

Bit of a freaky compition, but it's got to be the UK.

Shipman, the Wests, Moors Murders, Jack the Ripper and the lesser known Bible John.

Oh, I'm all freaked out now!

thankfully, true serial killers are a very rare breed. that said, given the right circumstances, they can be shockingly prolific. dr. hughes of illinois in the 19th century is the perfect example -- hundreds and hundreds of victims. sad that the US and the UK have the greatest notoriety in this department. the scariest of all though was the australian night creeper, eric van cook (not sure if i spelled it correctly)
