Addiction has made me a very weak and vulnerable person. Unlike most, I am not addicted to alcohol or drugs, I am addicted to self harm. For me, it is my way of coping with life. It has ruined many relationships, caused rifts between me and my closest friends, and also landed me in hospital more than 15 times in the past 2 years. I regret going down the path that I did, however, once you're in it's grip, self harm is a very powerful addiction. I am priveliged that I have the support of professionals who have my best interests and my life at heart, as it is these people who I have to thank for the fact that I am still alive today.

Addiction has made me an alcoholic but sober for 8 yrs., but I have an addictive personality so it easy for me to get addicted to most any thing.
That is such a good questioin, as I have lived around and with addicts and alcoholics, I should ask them, as they may have better answers then I do!
My addiction to alcohol made me become a street person, drinking whatever they could buy. I was working in a nursing home, and had money, but my boyfriend was an alcoholic, so you don't have to guess where most of my money went. Even though I managed to have a roof over my head, it was with just friends that liked me, but I didn't have a home to call my own for about a year; then my present husband came into my life, and took me out of that kind of life.
