I just tell them that they must obviously have enough money to pay the ticket then.
If they tell me that the Sheriff/Mayor is a close personal friend of theirs, I reply that they have someone to call and bail them out of jail, then.

Cops are tax payers too. He he. People would ask for my badge number. This is another funny demand. Anyway, I would say OK and give the POS my badge number. Then the idiot would call in and use my badge number to complain. This always backfired because we didn't use badge numbers to identify us. But I did what the guy wanted: gave him my badge number. When Mr. Smart Guy would be asked what the officers name is, the answer was "I don't know, all he put on the ticket was his badge number." This resulted in a lot of laughter at Mr. Smart Guy's expense. If people thought I was going put my actual name on a ticket they were insane. It's an officer safety issue.

I really didn't hear it as much as you would think, but I do have a great story if you care. One of our officers was told this and flipped them a quarter and said "here you can have it back".
The Chief of Police wasn't impressed and he got a long lecture and was threatened with reprimand if he did it again!
