Every night when I go to bed, I can't sleep and end up staring at the ceiling until I fall asleep 2 hours later...and because of this, I wake up in the morning for school and I'm so tired I wanna cry....Any tips on how to go to sleep easier?

Have an exhausting day. Don't sit down and relax at all. Go jogging, run errands, do homework. When your head hits the pillow at night, make sure you've earned a good night's sleep.

Also, avoid afternoon naps, drink a warm glass of milk before bed, and do something peaceful before turning the light out (like reading).

If you can't stop thinking as you stare at your ceiling, find ways to calm your mind. This is much more difficult to do than say, but you have to find your own solution to those problems.

Best of Luck.

Make sure your room is dark. Have the temperature in there slightly cool. Don't read or watch TV in bed- doing so tells your body it is time to stay up and alert vs. going to sleep. Nothing with caffeine 3-4 hours before bed. No exercising, TV or video games 2-3 hours before bed. If after laying in bed 20 mins. w/o sleeping, get out of bed and do some light reading for ten minutes then try again. Good luck- and try to go to sleep at the same time everyday, it will help your body get into a sleep pattern.

One problem I had was having a soda or something with sugar even a few hours before bed. No way would I get a good sleep. I stopped eating anything after 7 and no problems after that. Also I find that working out during the day uses up that energy and helps me sleep.

Good Luck

I used to have the same problem. I have to sleep in a completely dark room (absolutely no light) and have a fan blowing on me. I also gave up caffeine completely.

You might try doing a light workout an hour or so before bed to help you unwind.

try calming your environment, turn off/way down tv radio computer noise if you can, dim the lights, and use aromatherapy since our sense of smell can be a powerful link to our brains to slow down find good calming scents (lavender, vanilla, and try mint- it is very clearing) Its all about rituals, get a meditation cd and some pjs you wish you could live in, use the aromatherapy oil for pulse points and try doing meditative breathing techniques. Look them up on the net they work wonders but take a while to get just right. Good luck

This sounds stupid but I sware to you it works I used to be one of those people that could never sleep and would toss around the bed and stretch his legs all over the place.

What I do is jack off till I got no more energy left at that point you'll fall asleep in seconds I sware it works for me. It's dirty but it works it feels like your life force just left you and you sleep like a brick

I assuming you want non-prescription help. I take the maximum adult prescription of Benedryl almost every night. Another help is Tylenol pm.
