the first thing to remember about house training a puppy is there ability to hold themselves is limited. a rule of thumb is they can hold "it" usually 1 hour for each month of age. 2 months old = 2 hours, 3 months old = 3 hours, etc. when your puppy wakes up (morning, nap, whatever) the pup has to go, right then! take the pup out. when the pup eats or drinks, it has to go, take the pup out. after exercise (play), take the pup out. when the pup does it's thing outside praise it. a lot. tell the pup how good, how smart it is. you have to pay attention to the pups "looking for it's spot" behavior. when you see that behavior indoors, whisk the pup out. if you catch the pup in the act, simply tell it "NO!" and whisk it outside. if you find a puddle or pile after the fact, clean it up with an enzyme cleaner (pet food store) get a newspaper and hit.... yourself in the head and say "i should have been paying more attention" daytime training they get pretty fast. night time training is easier if you crate train the pup. also remember the one hour/one month rule. you will have to get up through the night to take the pup out. good luck

When I first got my puppy, she would obviously go whenever she needed wherever she wanted. Especially on the carpet. I would have to show her where she peed (didn't rub her nose in it), tell her no, then I would take her outside. I would carry her facing the direction to the door that way she knew where we were going. Then I would set her outside on the grass for a few minutes and walk her back inside. When I knew she'd eaten or drank or when I got her excited by playing with her, I would automatically take her outside on the grass and wait a few minutes, and most of the time she would handle her business. I would repeat this regardless of if she actually went to the bathroom or not. That way she learned where to do her thang. Soon after that steady routine, she would make it to the door by herself but still peed occasionally on the linoleum if she couldnt hold it. But at least she got the idea. As she got a little older she would continue to go to the door and sit until she was let out. Some people put a bell on the doorknob and show the dog that if they ring it (smack it w/their nose or paw) then it means they want to go out. My dog potty trained rather quickly. But all dogs are different. Good luck.

Paper training is fairly easy. newspaper laid down, catching her when she starts to go and run her over to the paper and say good puppy and petting when she goes on the newspaper. then start moving the paper closer and closer to the door. this should be going on for 1 - 2 weeks. then remove the paper, when she is ready to go she should have been getting used to going to the door. your set once that is accomplished because once she is at the door you take her outside. always use a reward for her doing something right

get a crate, pup will sleep in it and also be in it when you are not home,,, pup goes immediately outside first thing in am and again after naps and again after eating and also immediatley outside after coming out of her crate. crate training is the kindest , easiest way to potty train, consistency is key,, make sure you feed at the same time every day.. and restrict water after 6pm... email if you need more advice good luck on your new baby

you press newspaper on the pee spot and then put it with the other newspaper she will sniff and then find it then pee on it or just put her outside for a little bit so she can get used to using it outside.
