On Back to the Furture they showed a garbage desposal device as the carborator, throwing trash in to fuel the car. Is that a reality now? Does waste produce enough menthane gas to be efficent fuel?

yes, presently scientists are working on ways to convert biomass (ie. cellulositic materials from plants) and organics into ethanol, which can be used to create blends with gasoline (such as E85 ethanol).

yes, there are many plants in the world that generate fuel

technical processes are not an issue at all

the reason because it is not very usual is due to logistic for gathering organic garbage in a different way than any other garbage and logistic to distribute fuel. It seems to be too expensive for market competition against fossil fuel.

But many farms use this sorce of energy

I believe that most garbage now a days goes to the incinerator, where it is burned (with petroleum) to produce electricity. The ashes go to the dump.

Some landfills collect methane gas and burn it too.

yes the average landfill produces so much methane that you could heat your house for 100 years and never run out, and thats at high heat, cars are the same all that is needed is something to compress the gases into a container, no filtration needed

look it up, you might actually find that it is already happening. you can use garbage grease from fench fries to fuel cars. so why not real garbage, but only organic stuff, not paper or plastic.
