When you load a new toilet paper roll, do you load roll with sheet hanging over the top or from the bottom?

Its a debate my wife and I have been having. I say, it looks better with sheets from roll hanging down the back...she says its proper from the front.

I'm militant about this! It MUST hang over the top. Women know what we're talking about on this one. We use more of it!

Well do a test, to see which way rolls easiest. Home tissue is a much smaller roll and thus rolls easier either way. In public bathrooms, the rolls are so large that when they pull from the bottom, you tend to have to repeat more often, than over the top.
It's kinda like the seat up or seat down. Well, consider this; when you flush, that swirling motion sprays particals of waste and water up to 20 feet from the bowl. Measure from the bowl to your tooth brush. So If you put the lid down and flush, you contain that spray. I'd listen to your wife. She's does know more.

Over the top for sure! DBF and I agree with this and harmony reigns in our house.

Do you really want to be in the bathroom in the middle of the night (in the dark) and be groping the wall and spinning the roll trying to find that paper that is against the wall and hard to find?

No! you want to have the paper right "at hand" over the top and ready for easy removal. Also if it is over the top, only the first few inches are exposed to the room. If it hangs over the back against the wall, any dust or dirt or "overspray" that is on the wall would rub off on the paper that is touching it, and it would then be rubbed onto you (If it is your nose or your bum, that is still kinda nasty!)

Also, it "looks" nicer to see a fresh piece of paper waiting for you over the top, than to see a sad limp square hanging down the wall. you can also "fold" the paper into a triangle for company and it looks nice and new- like the hotels do.

I would listen to your wife on this one :)

you definitely have to do it over the top. at least that's the way i was raised. here's a thought..... when you use a public restroom or anyones for that matter and when the sheet is hanging down the back it usually touches the wall. god only knows what is on that wall and when the last time was that it was cleaned. think about it!

Its easier to roll it from the top haning over. I can not stand it when it's hanging from the back. It seriously bugs me. It also looks better that way too. So your wife is probably right. And you should let her put it that way because she probably uses it more than you! :)

I think your right, they should hang from the back. This is usually easier to pull and rip in one motion than from the front which you pull you go to rip then it pulls some more. It's good to hear that a guy is loading the toilet paper at all.

if u have cats or toddlers,dont let it hang down from the front-so much fun for kitty/kiddy to watch it unroll! ther is NO "proper" way,its either/either.like pronouncing it eether or eyether.its whatever u prefer.with no"correct' answer,this argument is a waste of time.humans are creatures of habit,if mummy hung it from the back,that looks right to u.if her mummy hung it from the front,that seems right toher.doubtful anyone will ever change their minds on this!!!!but the children/cat factor,has always made me a supporter of rhe hang down the back method,for practical reasons.

My father just gave me a lecture on this becuase I had it rolling off the back. He said that you want to hang it off the front so that there is a space between it and the wall. That way people's finger nails, rings, ect. aren't scratching the wall.

sorry johnny but ur wife is right....my parents have been married for 25 years and still remember their first argument....which way does the t.p. go? my mother won the argument....needless to say, the toilet paper at our house...always hangs down in the front... :)

over the top that way its not rolling out on the floor also keeps the cat from getting new toy
