hi all...getting inked in 3 weeks and just had some questions re: aftercare..

It's going to be on my lower back on my left side (no not on my spine - ouch and below my ribs - ouch)

I know that while healing, you aren't supposed to wear really fitted clothing on it...baby tees ok....but since the tattoo is going to be near my waistline where my jeans hit, after the tattoo is healed, do tight clothing still ruin or wear the tattoo? Or is it going to be one of these circumstances where I should move my tattoo up a little so that it won't get worn by my pants.

Tks!

Ok not really sure why I got a thumbs down...was an honest question....oh wells.

Just to add...I know that you can't wear tight clothing while it's healing but will it damage the tattoo still even after it's healed up?

tks so much!

You dont have to put a gauze over it after it heals...in fact AFTER it heals...its like its not even there...so fitted/tight jeans wont ruin it or anything...

Don't worry about your clothes wearing on your tat. Just after you get it , it will feel like a bad sunburn so you may want to wear loose stuff. If you take care of it while it's healing then you will not have any trouble with it. Do NOT pick at any of the scabs.Just remember to keep A & D ointment on it for 7 days then keep lubriderm lotion on it for 10 more days. Keep out of the sun or use good sunscreen until it heals also. Some of the excess ink will seep from the tat but that is expected. It's worth the pain. Good luck with your new tat.

Your clothes won't cause wear and tear on your tattoo. The after care is very important because that will affect how your tattoo looks after the area is completely healed. Sunscreen for any type of sun exposure is highly recommended to prevent fading whether you are outdoors or indoor tanning. I have one on my lower back right on the spinal area, it wasn't so bad.

your tattoo should be fine as long as you aren't wearing tight pants. i have some tattoo that is around my waist line and when i get it worked on i just wear a long t-shirt and tuck it in to my jeans so they don't rub it. but if they are a bit too tight you can unbutton them so it won't be irritated. or wear track pants or something soft and not so irritating. good luck with your tattoo!

I would move it up so its not in the area of your jean line. But keep it covered

I had a friend who got one smack dab on the area of her jean line she didnt keep it covered with Gauze and it took longer to heal and got infected.

Put gauze over it and keep it moist. It should heal fine. Just remember that the last thing you wanna do it scratch the scab off (gross i know)
