ditto on the many months....unless brown rice..that
doesn't keep as long. Store in a jar. When you see
critters or stringy mold, feed it to the critters.
after all, you boil or steam it. should be safe except for
the funky mold.

This is one of those "best if used before....." foods. Rice kept sealed in an airtight container and stored in a cool, dark place (in other words, resist the temptation to put it in a decorative jar and display it on top of the kitchen cabinets with the dried beans and lentils =0) ) will last a very long time--a year even. What causes rice to become rancid is exposure to light and moisture. Also, those paper bags that some rice varieties are sold in are easy for kitchen cooties to bore through, contaminating the product. We don't want any buggy rice! Good luck.

If there is no mold you are good to go - the nutritional value drops, but it still cooks and eats like rice. It will do in a pinch, but I would not keep it beyond 6 months after the date stamped on the label - by then it would be really old. It's cheap - go buy newer stuff.

As long as you do not cook it.
But there is a shelf line to rice too and the crop if just harvested can last over a year or two... see on the bag or pack for date to be used by ,expiry date!

I have some yet from 3 years ago that I am using and there is nothing wrong with it if it was kept from moisture and stayed dry.
