you really need to ask your doctor/dentist to be sure... every pregnancy is different and different women can handle different things during their pregnancy. one thing i do know for sure is you can not have any kind of pain medication at all besides tylenol and also no x-rays.
i just went to see about getting my wisdom teeth pulled about a week ago (im now 25 weeks pregnant) and the doctor told me all of this. he also said that most dentists will only work on a pregnant woman during there middle (2nd) trimester bc during the first trimester your baby is easily affected by a lot of things while its developing all its major organs, in the second trimester the baby has pretty much developed all its vital organs and is just getting bigger/stronger/healthier, and in the third trimester you are going to be in so much pain already...having work done on your teeth that is going to make you more miserable should not even cross your mind.
so if you think you can handle all the pain given only tylenol then go for it, but there is no way! i would suggest you wait until after you have the baby so you can go thru it easier... with being put asleep and getting a lot of pain medicine that is way more effective than tylenol lol :)

I had a root canal done while pregnant. Make sure the dentist uses the novacaine WITHOUT epinephrine in it!!! Also, my dentist office needed a form from my OB's office giving permission for me to have the dental work done.

I had 1 tooth pulled and am getting ready to get a root canal done. Your baby will be fine. Like someone else said they won't knock you out but will still numb you. Good Luck

Yes! I had two wisdom teet pulled while I was pregnant and also a root canal. However, you better get it done before you get to week 28 because my dentist wouldn't work on me after that week for some reason.
Also, you'll have to have your OBGYN contact your dentist to give his/her okay.
Good luck!! It's not bad at all.!!!!

Wait until your 2nd trimester when your body has had time to ajust, then ask your doctor and dentist. You would be more comfortable having it now before the baby comes then trying to be a new mom and be in pain from that...but you would have to try not having any pain relievers.
Best of Luck! I would get some perfessional advice.

Yes, you can. I had to have one while I was PG with my third. She was perfectly fine. Just make sure the doc knows that you are PG. They will limit the amount of Xrays they take and protect you with a couple of lead aprons when they take them. And they'll be sure to give you pain meds that you can take while PG.
ETA:
They WILL give you meds to numb you. They won't knock you out though.
They don't usually use novacaine anymore. They use Xylocaine/lidocaine. These are the same drugs used if mom gets an episiotomy during childbirth.....perfectly safe.

Yes you can. Just let your dentist know that you are pregnant and (s)he will take the right precautions (with Xrays and stuff like that)
Congratulations on your pregnancy :)
