Gain, but it's worth it. All you have to do is exercise more and/or join a gym. It's worth the peace of mind that they give. Some anti-depresants, very few, actually give you energy, decrease the appetite, such as Zoloft and Prozac.

They make you gain weight, they must some how effect the metabolism. Prozac is the worst for this.

People will suggest exercise to go with antidepressants but this is an impossible expectation, anyone with that amount of motivation wouldn't be depressed.

I was on one type that suppressed my appetite, but this was only due to the fact it made me feel really ill.

if you, of a friend etc have been prescribed anti depressants it is best to talk about the pescripction with a nurse etc. Different drugs effect people in different way, for example weight, height, illness, dosage etc all have factors in the effect they have.

Also counselling is a must when taking antidepressants, these drugs are not cures, they mearlly a means that allows a person to
fix their mind of mental damage.

Always consult a DR.

I have read they affect the libido, so if you are in a relationship I would not recommend it.

You better try something natural, for example St. John Wort, and plus camomile tea. Breathing deaply helps a lot (Yoga Breathing). http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/special_reports/depression/stjwort.htm

Some of my friends have been taken it for a few years already and are very happy with it.
