There are plenty of fish in the sea. The sooner you move on the better. Karma will kick his *** one day hopefully.

I feel for you, as I have been there before, in the exact situation you described. I am so sorry you were treated this way. :( No one deserves that. Yes, what goes around comes around, only you don't get to really see it, often, which is probably just as well. A year is a long time, and I remember it taking a long time for me too. It WILL get better, I promise. You will heal, and feelings will subside. I recommend ,if you are a praying person, to pray to God, and know he will answer you. If you have a sincere heart, and want to heal, and move on, and ask God to give you peace enough to sleep, and get better, he will do it. I wonder if you are a christian, or if you pray. If not, or even if you are, it also can help to have someone to talk to A therapist, will help tremendously, in terms of helping give some concrete ideas to help you move on. Do what you know you need to do, no matter how hard. Know that you are special, and try to leave it in the past, and make mental choices, to think of other things. It will get better. Please take care, and I wish you the best.

It sounds like your "peace" is based on a desire for the "revenge" in knowing his own karma is going to bite him in the rear end. While it makes sense that you're hurting, you're generating your OWN bad karma (yes he's going to get a lot of it back in another life, or this one) by hoping for this. This will NOT give you true peace, it's incorrect thinking... it will simply simmer in your mind and give YOU a bad karmic seed that will simply turn around and bite you in the tush too.
Instead, realize that he's done something awful to you due to causes and conditions beyond your own control, don't ever take him back unless you like abusing yourself, and FORGET about him. Instead focus on your own mind, cultivate a calm mind and patience with the nutjobs of the world and do some breathing exercises to calm yourself to get you to peaceful sleep.
May you find happiness that is the freedom from suffering.

You need to move on. Sometimes people are nasty and they suck but you can't dwell on it. Which is what you're doing.
And yes, it will come back to him.
lets put it this way... did you want to be hurt? Well, I bet he doesn't either. But sooner or later, someone will hurt him.
Thats life.
