I'm an atheist who teaches evolution. Almost half the people in the United States claim to believe in Genesis. I'm truly baffled. For creationists only, what do you truly believe?

a.) I believe everything in the Bible. If the Bible said black was white and white was black, that would be the truth.
b.) I believe that Genesis is scientifically equivalent or superior to the scientific theory of evolution based on scientific merits.
c.) Science is a rational belief systems, but it isn't necessary to seek rational explanations for everything.
d.) If there is one flaw in the Bible, then the Bible loses stature.
e.) I feel under societal pressure to deny evolution.
f.) One would lose entrance into Heaven if they believed in evolution.
g.) other

Please no cut and pastes.

I really only want to hear from people who consider themselves "Creationists." I am well versed in the "arguments" of creation "science," and find them faulty (but let's not get into that). I am disappointed at the knee jerk negative responses I am getting from loving Christians who did not get past the fact that I am an atheist and a teacher of evolution. Please don't prosletyze....you're not going to change my mind. I am not being judgmental and have offered option "g" for those who wish to expand upon their beliefs. I don't understand why Diamond in the Rough says I am not leaving room for an open conversation. I'm just baffled as to why people would reject science in this particular case. So far, I am I getting the sense that there are two camps: those who don't find any contradictions between science and Genesis interpreted literally, and those who don't find any contradictions between science and a less literal interpretation of Genesis.

a.) The Bible is the complete and unerrant Truth. Black is black and white is white. There is no contradiction whatsoever.

b.) Evolution is an implausible theory, so Genesis is scientifically and evidentially superior to the evolutionist theory. Darwin himself discredited evolution and has stated its contradictions.

c.) The Bible is a standard of rational belief systems, and contains rational explanations for everything.

d.)There is no flaw in the Bible.

e.) Under no societal pressure, but an explanation backed by evidence convinced me that evolution is deniable by a rational person.

f.) Evolution denies the teachings of the Bible, therefore would condemn all who believe in it.

I believe the entire bible is God's word and is true. There are no false statements in the bible like the fact that white is actually black. God created the whole world and it was good. It never says in the bible how God created it, he just did. I don't have enough faith to believe in evolution, but I also wasn't alive when the world was created, so I don't know if God used evolution in his creation. I'm baffled at how schools can teach a theory in science-that's all evolution is.

I believe that God created evolution.

I don't know why we have to choose one or the other. Why not both? Maybe God created us to evolve!

EDIT: To be more specific, I am a Catholic. I believe in the general idea of the book of Genesis but not literally every single word. Do I believe God created the world? Yes. Do I believe he did it literally in seven days? As others have mentioned, God is beyond time so how do I know what constitutes seven days to God? Since humans cannot comprehend everything about God, I believe things like this are put into these terms in the bible so that we humans can understand the concept. Does that help you any?

I believe that God created Heaven and Earth. Did He do it in a literal six days? I don't know. God himself said that a thousand years is like a day to him.

As mankind left Africa or wherever The Garden of Eden was and moved about the face of the earth, I believe the conditions they lived in and the foods they ate effected their DNA with each generation to the point that it caused what we classify as the different races. This might be a kind of evolution though some die hard fundamentalists would angrily disagree.

I am a devout Christian....And Creation makes sense to me...from a scientific standpoint.

1. what has the human creature have to do within the definition of TIME for God...Time is really only relative on earth...one day is less than a day on mars, but more than a year on Venus (if you are wortj your salt as a teacher of science, you know what I mean).

2. Since we are unable to define time in the matter of the "I AM"...then isn't it funny, when loosely adapted...genisis one lookes remarkably like the series or eras within the planet's own history?

3. Funny in how Genisis 2 man was made out of the mud...which is exacltly how....era after era all things came to be....from the earth itself?

4. Evolution happens within our own experience (microorganisms)...if evolution didn't occur, then why do we need to consistantly update our vaccines?

5. So now that I am not arguing the big bang...who lit the fuse?

6. We are inside the nature of time.... we have beginning and an end...we are under the constraints of nature, referred to in the Bible...even though it was voted on in a council...however...God never claims to be in time (Heidegger), yet God is always outside of time...beyond out own experience, except through the study of the cosmos...the great I AM.

You being an Athiest is moot. the literal and closed-minded reading of blind zealots does not hide the reflection of science within the scattered word of the ineffable creative power of the universe....next question.

oh, and "Born Again..." is a bloody moron and fool.

Genesis was a children's song. It was not met to be a detailed account of creation. However there are other passages that detail out things very well. One passage even describes the breaking of the one continent called into many.

Yes and a careful study of evolutionary theory convinces them.

Punctuated equilibrium for example. Mathematical analysis of the time it would take for hemoglobin( not to mention DNA) to evolve being longer than the age of the universe from astronomical studies. for starters.

I'm a Catholic, but I must say you have to be looney to take everything in the bible as literal. I have a born again christian friend and I can say from many talks I have with her, she'd say A.
