Your experience may sound terrible but the only damage to your microwave oven is probably only a burned fuse. You should replace with an identical one. 15 amperes 120/240 volts slow burn is what goes into most microwave ovens.

This happens because metal surfaces reflect the microwave radiation and do not absorb it. So heat is consumed in the internal part of the oven starting to burn parts. This is extremely dangerous and results in a fire. My opinion is that you should do this only having the appropriate anti fire equipment present. You risk also a certain electric shock if you touch the oven and a wire or sthg is exposed due to extreme temperature. Just play with something else or cook normal food!!!! ;-P

Do not put aluminum in a microwave, or any metal for that matter. The reaction can start a fire. Your microwave should be safe for use, just keep metal out of it. If you really want to have fun, put some peeps in the microwave (those marshmallow easter bunny candies).

you shouldn't have to worry about radiation from the oven unless you cracked the glass or otherwise damaged it. there is only radiation present inside the oven when it is on. i used to know a guy who just loved putting light bulbs in the microwave. it would light them up while it was on. his injuries were numerous, though. he burned himself, cut himself on broken glass, and eventually killed the oven. his mom was very upset. they tell you not to put metal in them for a reason-don't do it!
