I am in need of some truly unique/weird/unusual ideas to raise a large amount of cash for charity. There will be a large group of people available so they can be ideas for individuals or large groups of people.

A local library in my county had a "Chocolate Event" Local restaurants and bakeries brought in their best chocolate desserts. Tickets were $25 per person. Along with the ticket, the patron received a raffle ticket for a large prize (a diamond necklace donated by a local jewelry store). Guests could also buy additional tickets for other prizes- local businesses donated gift baskets, tickets, gift cards, etc.

The library raised over $8,000 for its foundation. I don't know what your goal is, but this was a successful event. There are plans to do it again next year.

I have been considering doing a pinata where the pinata would be loaded with numbered buttons that correspond with a list of some nice prizes donated by local businesses. People who pay to take swings at the pinata are the only ones allowed to scramble for the chips and everyone should be allowed to pick up one chip. Therefore you would not allow anymore to particiapte than prizes to be given. They would turn the numbered button in to determine what prize they had won. Prizes that I would like to have would range from electonics such as dvd players, digital cams and stereos. The charge for swings would be in the area of $15.00 to $20.00. I came up with this idea for a "Relay for Life" event in my community this year since the event is going to be on Cinco De Mayo, a Mexican Holiday. If you should try this, let me know how it goes.

Have a roast cheshnut social gathering, it truly is hassle-free basically purchase a brilliant bag of cheshnuts and prepare dinner them contained in the oven in case you do not have a chiminea or some thing silmilar to organize dinner them on outdoors. about 8 cheshnuts in step with human being with a drink for more effective or less £2 in step with human being. We had one in November and it went down so nicely saved it going all day and raised nicely over £3000 for an orphange. human beings were procuring 2,3 even 4 plenty. were given the cheshnuts donated, hassle-free to do and enormous relaxing. Cooked them outdoors on a Chiminea. No-one ever does roast cheshnuts lately so it turned right into a unique theory served with a pitcher of port depending wine. desire this helps.

The best one I ever saw was head shaving. People volunteered to shave their heads for charity and then people paid money to have them shave their heads. If you paid so much, you could actually help cut off the people's hair and shave their heads (you would not believe how much people would pay to be able to cut someone's hair). We earned a TON and the added bonus was that we then visited kids in the hospital who had cancer and were without hair. And some of the hair was long enough to be donated to Locks of Love.
