My son and I were at a library reading for 2 hours and when we were leaving he ask me if he could show me a magazine(he was all red, too shy).

The magazine had this beautiful girls and it was sealed (plastic all over)
the name of magazine was FHM .
I have tell mim before that if he has ANY questions about ANY topic he must trust me or his dad, instead of "friends".
He asked me if I could buy it 4 him; I told him that I had to ask his dad 2. My husband did not answer me he just laugh(nicely).
Should we buy it and let him see it (I know that he had click on links on computer and has seen some girls). He will be 13 soon
please help me decide.
Don't you think it is nice that he trust us?

well its nice he trusts u and all. And I'm a 13 yr old boy and yes i think u should, because at school everyone talks about it. And it may just be for experience and knowledge. As long as they arnt totally nude and like flashing and having sex in it i think its ok. he should atleast have the privaledge and right to know his parents aprove of it.

I don't want to give you advice, but I would like to tell you more about FHM since I am a subscriber and the issue you saw was under plastic. While there aren't any naked women exposing thier you-no-whats, there are pictures of naked girls that are barely covering their body parts.

As for the magazine, I would be more concerned with the content of the articles. FHM always has at least one article (usually more) that deal with sex, drugs, alcohol, or freaky/weird stuff. You might want to look at the magazine with your husband before letting your son have it. As for the racy pictures, your son won't see anything in FHM that he won't see on cable TV and the internet.

And by the way, I think it's cool that you have an open and honest relationship with your son and that he comes to you about subjects that can be embarrassing for a pre-teen. He is probably going to turn out a lot better than many of his peers!

Man when I buy my magazines I have to read them before my 12 y/o get a hold of them. Then the dam things disappear. He is coming of age and there is nothing wrong with FHM. If he has no idea what breast looks like then he is behind the power curve.

This is normal for him to want to see this. Hell be happy, he could be looking at "hunks next door”. I see no problem with FHM.

That reminded me of the time he asked his mother if he could get "Girls gone wild" that was too much for his mother but I was prepared to steal his DVD's before it got to him. Dam!

when i was 12 i found my uncles stash of playboys and penthouse magazines. i turned out okay and im not a pervert like these idiots are saying above me. Look at this age his body is starting to change and just to let you know hes probably already started to masturbate. Trust me at 12 hes not reading the articles, hes just lookin at the babes and something to wack off on. Sorry to be so blunt but i remember when i was 12. The fact that he asked u if he could get it is really cool. I was comfortable talking sex with my mother and when i told her i was having sex at age 17 she bought me a ton of condoms. Its healthy and in the long run it should help him out.

Sounds like an excellent relationship. Its really up to you. What do you think it will change. If he has seen fully nude internet ladies then whats semi nude magazine lady gonna do to him.

In my opinion the fact that you didn't give into the whole social ideal that sexuality at that age is wrong is just spectacular.

But it really comes down to how he would handle it internally.

FHM is pretty tame considering what could have brought you. I say buy it and explain air brushing to him. let him know those girls arent' real, they are just what a few photographers think is sexy. Go through the mag with him and explain about respect, and that everything has a time and place - he feels comfortable enough with you to bring it up - yay for you, your doing great! So him your comfy too

Yes, go ahead and buy it for him. He's almost a teenager, after all. A lot of these people must not have ever seen FHM magazine--it's not bad. They don't even show nipples, so it's not even close to being porn.

You sound like your guilty of something.
Not to say I am a lie detector, but nude pictures can spiral into something dirty. And I mean demeaning to women. Don't you want your son to respect women. What kind of message do you want him to get.
Oh my mom is soo cool she lets me look at naked women
Or if you explain to him that maybe talking to a real women, like yourself, is all the experience he needs at 12.

Not appropriate. Tip toeing around about explaining to your child the boundaries that he is going to need.

Be a parent.

yes, i think its very nice that he trusts you enough to show you those kinds of things, but i don't necessarily think he's ready for that type of magazine yet. he'll get enough of that from his friends at school, and eventually he'll figure out other ways of looking if he wants to see that. i wouldn't encourage that kind of thing though, beacuse before too long he's going to want more, and then he's going to start fooling around, and he's WAYYY too young for that.

I don't think it would be a wise choice to buy a magazine like that for your son.
