However, it should be noted that the Vatican of this day and age maintains an observatory, and is very interested in astronomy, cosmology, and other physical sciences related to space.

I think there is a mention or two of a star in the Old Testament and Revelation, but the only STAR star I really think of when considering the Bible is the one the Magi / Wise Men / Astrologers followed to Bethlehem and the Christ child... Gospel of Mathew, I believe. We pretty much just call it the "Star of Bethlehem" and it only really comes into play around the Christmas season.

The Star of Bethlehem is one of the most powerful, and enigmatic, symbols of Christianity

Mathew 2
1 Now when Jesus was aborn in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

2 Saying, Where is he that is born bKing of the Jews? for we have seen his cstar in the east, and are come to dworship him.

Some astrologers think that it was comet

I'll give you two:
First, "I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth" (Numbers 24:17).The "prophet" for profit, Baalam, is obviously speaking of the Messiah, who turned out to be Jesus. Thus, "star" is one of the many Messianic titles.
Second, there are always pretenders to the throne:
"But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves" (Amos 5:26).

The only special star in the Bible that I can recall off the top of my head is the one that led the wise men to the child Jesus.

Actually a more accurate translation for the 4th verse is
"There is not a soul but over it is a keeper."

It does not refer to the star as the guardian.

That one over Bethlahem, and there's mention of one called Kolob which is used as another way of saying heaven, or around where God dwells.

Yes

It is the 'Dawn Star' and the 'Evening Star'.
Also known as 'Lucifer' to the ancient Europeans...

We know it as 'Venus' however so it really isn't a Star after all.....
