yes but if anything happens and they can't deliver it to the addressee, the sender will not get it back.

It some times may depend on the country's postal policies too. If suppose a letter is being posted to some one in the armed forces... while in the field.. imagine what credibility does the sender have without the return mail address...
So usually the letter does get delivered to the addressee, but in rare circumstances or where the protocol demands the letter may require the return address as mendatory.
If it is really important for u to know, u can check with the local post office as well.

Sure as long as you have a recieving address on it then you're fine. All that happens without a return address, is that if the post office for some reason can not deliver the letter, they have no way of getting it back to you.

If you used the proper address, yes. If the letter is undeliverable, it will just sit in the local post office, collecting dust....and you will never know if it made it unless you call.
