Hi Ashley. It sounds like Jay already likes you at least as a friend, and that ain't bad! If you know what he likes to do on the weekends, casually say something like, "Hey, I remember you said that you like to go ____. I was looking for someone to go with this weekend, are you free?"
Keep it really low-key and don't call it a "date" or you will formalize everything too quickly and make him uncomfortable. Good luck!
