The best answer to this question is to contact the lender or servicer of your student loans. Don't make the mistake of not notifying them if you are having trouble paying your student loans each month.

If are currently in default or have recently defaulted, you can re-establish your "good-standing" status on Federal student loans, but this is done by first contacting your lender.
