It appears that you are not getting enough rest. Trying sleeping in the evening rather than stepping out. Soon the "bags" under your eyes will give way to a bright and cheerful face which will be the envy of every other night owl who suffers as you apparently are.

As an alternative remedy, you can become a two-bagger by wearing a bag over your face when you step out. Your partner will also wear a bag so he/she won't see your face in case their bag breaks.

Either way, you will find the results satisfactory to the point that you can move on either with or without "bags" under your eyes.

Puffy eyes are usually the result of fluid retention. Drinking extra water actually helps to flush away that fluid. I know that sounds odd - drinking more fluid to alleviate fluid retention - but it's true. In fact, drinking enough water can help with fluid retention in all areas of the body. Don't go overboard. Six glasses of water a day along with your usual liquid intake is plenty.

When you get up in the morning, splash your face with cold water. You can even use ice water if you can stand it. Those bags will start to retreat after a few minutes.

The old teabag trick works. Brew some tea bags in boiling water, then, squeeze them out. Refrigerate or freeze them. In the morning, take two out, lie down with one bag on each eye for 10 minutes. You will see a noticeable reduction in your puffy eyes after that. Make sure you use caffeinated tea bags! The caffeine helps to reduce the puffiness.

Cucumbers work too! Cut two slices about one half inch thick and place them over your eyes for five minutes. Make sure they're nice and cold. After all these years, this simple treatment actually works better than many expensive gels and other chemical treatments. Many doctors are telling patients who complain of puffy eyes to grab a couple of bags of frozen corn or peas and put them over the eyes for five minutes. The bags conform to YOUR bags and reduce the puffiness even better than cucumber slices, they claim.

Another super simple but effective way to alleviate puffiness is to refrigerate two spoons for a few hours - or freeze them for an hour. Place the underside of the spoon on your eyes and press very gently for about a minute. You will see the puffiness reduced by a great amount.

Keep your eye cream or gel in the refrigerator. When you use it, it will refresh and depuff your eyes, especially if it has aloe vera or other depuffing agents in it.

Lastly, if you have allergies, be sure to take your allergy medication. I am very allergic to dust and, when I am in a dusty room, my eyes literally swell. Benadryl works wonders for me. It alleviates my red and scratchy eyes and reduces the puffiness around them. Be sure to ask your doctor what allergy meds you should take before treating yourself.

And now for the chemical treatments ...

Eye treatments are a gazillion dollar business and it seems there is a formula for every type of eye concern possible. Dark circles, puffy eyes, wrinkles, dullness, fine lines, firming - you name it, there are creams and gels that claim to address those concerns.

So which are best for puffy eyes? Naturally, different formulas work differently on each person. However, in general, gels work better than creams for puffiness.

Look for creams and gels that contain aloe vera, chamomile, caffeine, and other herbs proven to fight puffiness and firm the eye area. Make sure the cream or gel specifies that it is for puffy eyes. Regular eye creams won't do a thing for under eye puffiness and bags.
Using eye treatments specially made for puffy eyes in combination with one or more of the natural fixes above can help reduce puffiness greatly. Get enough sleep and don't overdose on salt and you should look younger and more attractive around the eyes in no time.

For some, under eye bags are fat, not fluid ...

Some people don't suffer just from morning or allergy puffiness. Some have chronic, constant bags under their eyes. Those bags aren't fluid. They're actually fat pockets. No cream or natural remedy can rid you of those. There is surgery - similar to mini liposuction - that can be done to suck out the fat deposits and give your eye area a more youthful, attractive appearance. The surgery is done under the eyelid so there are no scars and it is relatively simple - as far as surgery near the eyes goes.

This surgery is a final step and one that shouldn't be entered into lightly. A good plastic surgeon can tell you if you could benefit from surgery and will give you the pros and cons. The decision is up to you and your wallet from there.

For the majority of us who carry around little fluid pillows under our eyes, a combination of topical eye treatments and lifestyle changes (More sleep, less salt, more water, taking allergy medication) can reduce our puffy eyes and make us look fresh, awake, and youthful, even at 7 a.m.
