they were God's chosen people. They went against God, so God sent His Son Jesus Christ to Earth to make a new covenant with them. The Jews didn't accept Jesus, nor the new covenant. The Christians have.

The proof is in the bible and the fact that the Old Testament said the Jews would return to Israel. Guess what? It happened in 1948, so even though at the time the bible was written, that was an extreme long-shot, the prediction was right. God made a promise to the Jews, He doesn't forget His promises. The bible tells us that He became angry with the Jews, but that He would forgive them, that they'd always be His chosen.

Depends. If you're willing to accept that Yahweh is the One True God, then yes, because it was to the Jews that the Eternal Covenant was offered. Even Christians admit that they are not covered by the Eternal Covenant but this so called 'new covenenant' jesus taught about.
Of course, this means the Christians are calling God a liar, because they're saying the Eternal Covenant wasn't eternal after all... but they tend to over look that since Jesus didn't meet the requirements of the messianic prophecies required of the Messiah under the Eternal Covenant.
-----
malak: the prophecy of the return is NOT fulfilled yet. Yes Israel was established in 1948 -- but the prophecy is the return of every single living Jew on the planet. It is the repair of the Diaspora. The fact there is a Synagogue not 5 miles from where I'm sitting proves that the prophecy of the return is still not fulfilled.

One could begin with the fact that the Jews, of all the Middle Eastern tribes, still exist as a defined people. The closest is their ancient foe, the Edomites, who currently call themselves Palestinians to hide their true identity (because if it were known, no one would take their war with Israel seriously.) However, the Jews were displaced from their land for 1800 years, and yet maintained their identity as a people (the genetic disease Tay-Sachs is peculiar to Jews and Africans, but NOT to their former neighbors in Europe, proving that they really did maintain their ethnic identity over the millennia of living in Europe.)
You could also take the Bible's statements on that. Most people don't believe the Bible; Moslems attempt to re-write the Bible and stick Ishmael in where Isaac should be, but the Bible is actually more reliable than genetic identity. I could go into that, but you've not the time nor patience right now, so I won't.
But it's not a lie. Wait around a few more decades (if you survive it all) and you'll see it happen.

Well the prophecies about them in the Bible are coming true. I think that them being God's chosen people does not mean they are his favorites and are better than anyone else. It was their father Abraham he made an agreement with and all the prophecies were given through Jews. The entire Bible was written by Jewish hands and his son Jesus was a Jew. Here is a site with the list of prophecies about the Jews: http://www.100prophecies.org/

God promised many Old Jewish anscentors that they were his chosen people. They are. Thier suffering will be revenged. Abraham was promised a kingdom that spanned the whole Earth (mankind). Jesus, the savior of mankind, was a Jew. Jerusalem will be "lifted from the ashes" and become the new kingdom of God in the end. 144,000 Jews will be marked as God's people in the end. Read up on Genesis and Revelations (God's promises in the beginning and the end)

take an Old Testament History course...YES...I was talking to a Muslim the other day and he is from Israel but acknowledges the History of the Jews...He isn't even a practicing Muslim yet called himself a Muslim and also said that the war and tiffs over there are merely about land...not religion...and we spoke of the History of God and the Jews...He seemed to agree about God's chosen people...

That is actually a good question. Here is the proof as I understand it:
1) The Nation of Israel is the only nation in the world that has disappeared as a sovereign nation from its original land for over 2,500 years, then returned to that exact same spot against all odds. This occured EXACTLY as the God of the Bible prophesied that it would, during the exact year that He foretold it would take place, in the EXACT location that He said it would happen in. The mathematical odds alone of this occuring and being accurately foretold are incalculable.
2) The Nation of Israel, against all odds, has won wars against its enemies who were stronger than it and sworn to its destruction. The God of the Bible has sworn that Israel would not lose its land, would be victorious against its enemies and that He would fight for them. So far, all of this has come to pass exactly as the Bible prophesied. In fact, every world power in history that has attacked and subjugated Israel eventually fell from power (i.e., Egypt, Persia, Rome, Germany, etc.) and every nation that has helped Israel has experienced prosperity and blessing (i.e., the U.S.). This is also according to God's biblical promise: "I will bless those who bless (Israel) and curse those who curse (Israel)."
3) The Bible has foretold that Israel would be hated by all of the world because of its status with God as His chosen nation. This is exactly what is taking place.
4) The God of the Bible foretold that the land of Israel would become "A stumbling block" for all of the world, and that is exactly what it is today.
These facts and events are foretold in the Bible to offer proof that the Israelites are God's people of choice to show forth his power, bring forth his messiah, offer salvation to the world, and demonstrate His sovereignty. If the proceeding facts are not enough to convince you of their status, my friend, then wait until you see what is coming up with Iran, Russia, Europe and China... also foretold thousands of years before these nations existed. You won't have to wait long!

God has chosen the Israelites, yes. God brought forth the Messiah (Jesus) through their line. This is seen throughout the Old Testament and New Testament of the Bible.
Now, through Christ, anyone can become one with the people of God, Jew or Gentile.

God brought 3 million people out of Egypt slavery and based the past present and future events that would happen to them in this world in the bible. Do you think that makes them God's chosen? Especially when He says He would save them in the end.
