My guess is that a man who enjoys playing the role of the 'other man' doesn't take the woman seriously and does not plan to ever be in a serious relationship with her. In addition, the guy probably figures that if the woman is willing to cheat on someone who cares for her that she'd cheat on him as well. So, he's probably just having fun.
