Ok, so I've been e-mailing my close friend, and hadn't got a response. So, I figured it was the dumb servers hating on my e-mails, AGAIN. Today, I figured I'd see what they were doing over there, and I went and checked the website. There was a message saying that they all were ok, but that they took down outside communication temporarily. I know this is routine, so I am not worried, just curious when it MIGHT be back up.

Umm... Yeah, I am pretty sure that duty comes first. That kinda goes without saying.

There's never any notice, for those on the outside anyway, as to when they shut communication down or bring them back up again. We just have to sit and wait. I went through this with my and currently my brother is enlisted. Also, there are numberous dead zones in the world.

Also the "Dems" are not cutting troop funding. The President has said he will veto the funding in an effort to make his weakening position stronger. The "Dems" are carrying out the will of the voters, if Pres. Bush decides not to support the troops, that is his choice. Pres Bush knew tours would be extended in his plan for a "Surge", he mistakenly thought the new Congress would roll over for him, just give him what he wanted before this was announced.

As a seagoing type of guy, Coms can be down for a variety of reasons. Bad servers, bad wiring , security black out, or just because. Look at you own ISP and how many times it goes down. It's the same for the military, although we have crazy sattelites and such, we still lose it every now and again.

just depends if it emails as far as AF certain bases will strip alot of content from them. Goverment Email is supposed to be for official use only. As far as telephone calls they are usually allowed 15mins a week for a morale call.

As far as temporarily down, it could be routine, most likely their servers crashed and they are in the process of getting them working again. So you most likely recieved a generic email from there network guys.

In the US Navy, Duty comes before emails and sometimes it is only for a short time for communications to be down!! Depends on the problem, there are dead zones out there!!!
