I got a ticket for "failure to control speed so as to avoid collision" and when I went to court to fight it, the police officer didn't show up so they dismissed it without prejudice. They said that they can refile within a certain amount of time, but I don't know what that timespan is. I need more information on this ruling and the timespan. (I got the ticked in April).

It sounds like you were in a county court, so I'd ask the clerk of court. If they don't know/won't answer, you can ask a private attorney in that district. As a last resort you can "anonymously" ask the county prosecutors office.

It varies from county, district and state - where it would be a procedural issue more so than a statute of limitations (meaning you have to charge somebody within a certain time-frame or forfeit the case). Hope this helps, Great Question!

Often when an officer is unavailable for court, it's because the job has a higher priority than your case. Being that you ticket was for a traffic violation...it is doubtful that the officer will reissue the ticket. Because it sounds like you were also involved in an accident, the insurance companies will deal with the rest of the issue using the citation as a reference for "at fault." Take it as a "warning" to avoid speeding in the future!

Call the court clerk where you went to fight the ticket. If they don't know....ask them where to call for that information. Or try your local Chamber of Commerce-Court Magistrate. I am sure someone can lead you in the right direction. Each state has different laws. What City and State are you in? You can also try to get the info online. www.ask.com be sure to include your location when asking the question.

unsure i'm getting your question: "by technique of the time the cop became i became traveling the linked fee shrink yet he pulled me over understanding that i were rushing." So right here he's elementary with your velocity. "...yet im purely questioning if he might have given me some form of fee ticket even with out understanding my velocity because of the fact it became very obtrusive that i became traveling above the linked fee shrink." And right here he would not...or he does; i can't tell what you're which means to declare. to respond to your question, no - we can't write you a cost tag for rushing if we don't be attentive to what velocity you have been using at. This feels like form of a no-brainer...what might we write the fee ticket for if we did not be attentive to what your velocity became? i don't be attentive to of any regulation everywhere interior the country that facilitates the police to place in writing a cost tag for "rushing, yet i don't be attentive to how quickly" So your question is somewhat incorrect; if we are writing you a cost tag, all of us be attentive to how quickly you have been going or are able to estimating *some* form of velocity. it is diverse than not understanding a velocity.
