The amount you will lose can very based on a number of different things. Your metabolisim being one thing, which can be different for every person. 5 lbs a week is not bad. 2 lbs a week is not bad. 10 lbs a week is boarder line too much unless you have a lot to lose in the first place.
Here are some suggestions.
1. Don't expect it to go fast. It took you years to put it on, it's going to take some time to take it off. If you lose the weight too fast you will probably put it back on when you finish whatever you are doing. Make changes that you can live with, don't do temporary things that make you feel like you are suffering. Also, there is no such thing as cheating on a diet. You choose too eat more sometimes. This has to be ok, just be ready to get back on the diet the next day. Also try to limit the number of times you choose not to stick to your plan to about once a week.
2. Don't just exercise. Look for an activity that you can do for a sustaned time that you will not get tiered of doing. Exercise in the gym might be the thing but it also could be boring as watching grass grow. So find an activity that you like.
Also, in general you want something that includes some amount of weight type training along with the cardio (running) exercize.
I personally have been taking TaeKwonDo for the last year, which mixes cardio and calestenic type exercize. And I'm learning something too.
3. Water is good. You want about 8, 8 oz. glasses a day. Be ready to spend a bunch of time in the bathroom when you start doing this... but it does get better.
4. Do not just eat cereal. Bad idea. Eat healthy foods 5 to 6 times a day.
Breakfast - main meal #1
Mid-morning snack.
Lunch - main meal #2
Mid- afternoon snack.
Dinner - main meal #3
After dinner snack
The main meals should be healthy but can include things you enjoy just in small quantities but Portion Control, Portion Control, Portion Control. Example. If you go out to eat at a nice resturant. When your food comes, immediately ask for a take home box. Put half of the meal in the take home box before you even start eating.
Meals should typically be about the size of your fist and then a salad.
Snacks much smaller and should be fruit or nuts but very small portions.

It is great that you took the first step in wanting to live a healthier and richer life. Running every day for thirty minutes is also very good, however I hope you are doing low impact exercises and warm up by stretching your body before doing any other activity.
I do not agree that you want to only eat cereal throughout the whole day and maintain this habit until you see results. The lack of carbohydrates, protein, iron, potassium, fats, and other essentials which poultry, and fish contain will only weaken you (avoid red meats instead these are not completely necessary). Fruits and Vegetables will aid you in receiving your Vitamin B, and Vitamin C which contain antioxidants that nurture you and help prevent cancer, and other harmful diseases. You need to eat 5-6 times daily but in smaller portions this way your metabolism begins to work faster and will burn off calories quicker because you will not be consuming a large portion. If you decide to stick to your unhealthy diet your metabolism will work slower trying to retain the few calories you are intaking, and when you begin to eat other goods your metabolism will still persist on processing the calories slowly and not burn much calories which will only make you gain weight. Be Careful!

there is no correct.
you need to drink water, of course, yes.
but don't eat just one food. you need variety in your life. eat fruits, veggies, lean meats and fish. try eating 6 small meals a day and you won't feel deprived.
if you eat the way you mentioned above, odds are you will gain weight. your body will go into starvation mode and will hang onto everything you put into your body.
i think 2 pounds a week is the most one should/could lose healthily.

Cereal ONLY isn't healthy, especially if you are a teenager. In the first week you will probably lose the most weight.
