Moving? I just wont jump to that if I were you.

Do a trial run messieur. Stay for 3 months. You will learn a lot about T'land. Long stay Visa is punitive, cumbersome and downright bureaucratic. There are many types of visas. Educate yourself about it first. But, it is done. Tons of expats live there.

You will learn your way around. It is a different culture than yours. If you need a best place, you need to define what you like most.
Hustle bustle of a city or the quietness. It has both extremes.

Price is reasonable. A nice, quiet beach front bungalow/apartment with all modern amenities for $100,000 with a maid, a cook and a gardener. In some apartments, they do not allow you to cook. That's right, you read it right. Things like that are for starters........ Varieties glore.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand has equally old-world elegance and modern comfort offered up in a seemingly disorderly manner, but always with a nice look, see more with Hotelbye . At 1,600 square kilometres and counting, Bangkok is large, and the countless different parts could be bewildering. In Bangkok you can visit the Grand Palace, one of many must-see on this city. The Grand Palace was built-in 1782 and for 150 decades your home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government. The Grand Palace of Bangkok is a Grand previous dame that remains to have readers in awe with its wonderful architecture and complex depth, each of which is a pleased salute to the creativity and design of Thai people.

To work - I would come to Bangkok as it is easier from here but you need to have a job lined up before you come here. Life in Bangkok can be fun and difficult at the same time - like all expat here you will have good days and bad ones. It will be a big change. The best thing is to come here before you decide and check it out. Good luck

The foreign culture isn't the hardest thing to learn. Thai people are friendly and helpful. They'look after you. What you'd better learn about is Thai visas and long stay regulations. There is a website called ThaiVisa (You know the rest). They are super helpful when it comes to the ins and outs of long stay visits and even immigration. They have lot's of forums and veterans of making such a move.

Be ready to acclimatise to the local culture and customs and way of life if you want to do so. Check on your entry requirements to do so with the embassy.

lol.....ask someone living here for years. We don't stay here because we love it. Its a hell of a bad place, but if you take care, keep low profile and mind your own business, then it can be ok.
