There is a decided difference between doing "magic" and showing signs which God has given you to display.

Witchcraft is under judgment in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, including the the Book of Revelation. "I think" there is a curse that goes with adding to or taking away anything said in that book, not to mention eternal separation from God.

There is also a major difference between spiritual discernment and making use of psychic powers. The first is a gift from God that works through you but does not proceed from you. Psychic force is personal soul power suppressed in flesh from the time that Adam fell.

It is not legal to use psychic power and that is why witchcraft and many other occult efforts are condemned. You should conclude that the answer to your question is a big No.

No Prophet did magic. No Disciple did magic. witchcraft is not an added extra, but a modern interpretation for sorcerers.

All mighty acts including those of Jesus come from God. It was God who did it all and it is not magic but power. He made the world and through it's making he retained the right to bend it ever to his will. Only when the person of God was in harmony with God would the power flow. Notice when Moses struck the rock in anger he was punished. Paul had a "thorn" in his side that would never heal. So, it is safe to say that the power is not theirs.

To us who cannot comprehend all Gods ways it does seem magical, but that is only because we lack understanding.

Not a sincere one anyway. And no, Moses did not practice magic. And while you are right that others practiced magic in the Bible (see Saul at the end of his life), it is always within the context of disobeying God.

In the Bible, disobedience to God is the same as magic and thus, not a good thing to do or follow. Basically, it's about where a person's trust is, is it in God or is it in magi? You cannot serve two masters wholeheartedly at the same time.

Depends on what you mean by magic. I have yet to receive an answer to what, exactly, witchcraft is. It mainly speaks against Divination (trying to find out what the future holds).... But every time one reads Revelation and tries to apply to the modern world, they are doing that as well. It seems that when it comes to this, if you claim to be a Christian and just Do these things... it doesn't matter. If you claim you are Christian and tell people about it, then you're not a "true" Christian... all the rest of us are obviously just hell-bound heathens. :)

you're describing Thaumaturgical Magick, there is also Theurgical magic which does contain handling supernatural entities and maximum Christians do not distinguish between both. the effortless definition between Thaumaturges for his or her paintings is the manipulation of skill to result ameliorations contained in our environment in accordance with will. Strictly talking you're doing that anytime you activate an electric powered gentle. do not ignore that maximum fundamentalists have a tendency to reject any technological information they could't understand, like evolutionary biology, and Thaumaturgy, because of the be conscious "magick", is right away going to be labeled as satanic because it really is what they heard even as they were growing to be up.

Of course you can! Witchcraft is separate of religion. Almost all of the Bible's condemnations of witchcraft were mistranslations of "poisoner." Witchcraft is also not evil, and has nothing to do with the Devil, as many people here seem to think. I have never met a witch (and yes, I know many) that has ever done anything to harm someone.

I know there are some Christians who practice folk magick. However, as a Wiccan, I don't believe Christian teachings align you with nature and the forces of the divine in such a way as to use magick and ritual to its fullest advantage. There are too many teachings of humans being the rulers of nature for many Christians to accept their oneness with nature and believe that the power held within nature is not of the devil, but of the divine.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with it. I always say, magick is "prayer with props" Give it to God. Let him/her know what it is you desire. Yes, there are Satanists (not that all are bad people) and those who take magick to dark places, but you do not have to be one of them.

Try reading this book (Practical Candleburning Rituals: Spells and Rituals for Every Purpose), it is great because it includes Christianity as well as the old pagan religion side-by-side.

Good Luck in your endeavors!

Well, I've asked my priest this before. You can't do magic because you would be stating that you'd rather rely in a by prodcut of God rather than God fully (Enoch states that magic was brought forth by the angels). In Mexico we have santeria, a mix of Catholocism and Pagan and Voodoo like practices. My priest has told me that the problem with magic and spiritism is the gateways we might open. It's dangerous stuff. Also, seeing into the future would be like distrusting God. And I suppose the people in the bible, if they turly were pyschic, were chosen by God. Oh, Moses didn't do magic, but a miracle. It has scientifcally been proven (History Channel's "Exodus Decoded") that the parting of the sea was a combination of a volcanic eruption in Santorini and geological stigmas. You can either view it as a miracle or coinsidence.
