In the male, nipples are often not considered functional with regard to breastfeeding, although male lactation is possible. The answer is that as embryos men and women have similar tissues and body parts. If anything the embryo follows a 'female template'. That is why nipples are present in both sexes. It is the effect of the genes, the Y chromosome and the hormone testosterone that brings about the changes and masculinises the embryo. Testosterone promotes the growth of the penis and testicles. Because nipples are there before this process begins the nipples stay!

1. the biological explanation is that nipples are formed in utero before sex determination is made. Each embryo has the potential to be fully female or male. Genetically male embryos have breast buds, ovaries and a uterus. The XX or XY chromosome determines the fetuses response to circulating hormones, and the pluripotent sex organs (usually) then become male or female. Sometimes accidents of different types happen, leading to hermaphrodites, or indeterminate external sex characteristis

2. the religious explanation..................
uhm......I don't thing they have one for that.

And, you are so dumb as to believe this?

When the fetus starts to form, all the organs of male and female are alike. Later into development the sex organs begin to change. The nipples are left over from the beginning of the forming of the fetus.

He is not correct. Nipples develop before the Y chromosome kicks in and stops female development.

When babies are young--like 3 months--they are all girls. It is not until after 3 months that babies develop sex organs. So the baby boys' breast tissue never fills in and they develop male sex organs. Girls in the uterus develop the breasts tissue and female sex organs.

How old are you? You should know better.

Men are male. Males can't give birth like females.

Male nipples are vestigal. It means they have no function. They're a leftover from evolution.

It's because embryos all start off as female then develop distinctive gender characteristics.
