Ya, so is food. Use both in moderation. Alot of the wine back then was more in the form of juice--no leavening.

Alcohol is allowed by the Bible. Jesus' first miracle involved turning water into wine, for crying out loud! Also, back in those times, since the water quality wasn't the best, wine was the major liquid of choice.

The only thing way we get in trouble with alcohol is when we get drunk. The Scriptures advise against it.

No way! Noah loved to drink wine and get naked. Jesus turned water into wine for a wedding celebration. Moses was also a drinker. God put alcohol on this planet as a social means. However, it does say in the bible to only drink in moderation. God didnt intent for us to abuse alcholol of any other substance. That's why when one drinks or takes drugs more than what a social occastion calls for, negative things start happening such as withdrawls. So you can drink, but go easy on that bottle.

The process of getting the alcohol out to make grape juice is a fairly recent invention, I think the 1800's. It would be ridiculous for the Bible to completely condemn all alcohol, since there would have been no other choice for consumption.

its allowed:
1 Timothy 5:23 Do not drink water any longer, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness.(relate to previous verses)

When too much:
Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a ridiculer, intoxicating liquor is boisterous, and everyone going astray by it is not wise.

Proverbs 23:20 Do not come to be among heavy drinkers of wine, among those who are gluttonous eaters of flesh. 21 For a drunkard and a glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe one with mere rags.

1 Peter 4:3-4 is also interesting to read.
1 Corinthians 5:11; 6:9, 10, Titus 2:3,Luke 21:34, 35,Hosea 4:11,Ephesians 5:18

It states no where in the bible that alcohol is not allowed. Why turning water into wine was one of Jesus first miracles. the thing that makes this a sin is over indulging in it.

Considering the number of references to wine, wine-making, and wine-drinking, the answer must be that it is allowable. Islam, however, does condemn alcohol, and in Saudi Arabia it is illegal. The black market price for a bottle of Black Label there, last I heard, was about $500.

Alcoholic beverages, especially wine, are permitted...in fact, in the OT, there are several laws that pertain specifically to wine.

That said, there are also laws and derivations for other laws that strongly suggest that alcoholic beverages should not be abused.

Even Jesus changed water to wine. I don't understand the thinking of some christian denominations who prohibit alcohol when Jesus himself drank it.

This is very interesting, we can all see the negative impact that alcohol has on society in general not to mention what it can do and does do to the individual.

Many people have mentioned you are allowed to drink but not in excess. but who sets the limitations of what is excess humans? surely that would differ from person to person as it is based on opinion.

my point is, how can something that causes so much harm and evil be permissable by divine sciptures or could it be the influence of human desire?
