you should be using fragrance free lotion on your tattoo until it has healed. what have you been putting on it for the first four days? the perfumes and oils in the cocoa butter could be bad for the color in your tattoo. just stick with what is tried and true.

You should avoid anything with color or perfume on the new tatt. The best lotions are odorless, colorless, no dyes or perfumes.

You don't want to irritate the skin, it will delay the healing.

Try Eucerin lotion and feel free to apply it like 3 times a day.
And don't help the tatt by scratching or picking.

Although cocoa butter is good for tattoos...i wouldnt suggest it for a fresh tattoo...for a fresh tattoo you want to use UNSCENTED lotion like lubriderm... any sort of scented/colored lotion will irritate the tattoo and it will burn! i read one answer that said that cocoa butter has stuff that causes an infection...thats not true. but you are better off using a tattoo salve to keep it from dryin up and then work your way to cocoa butter....which brings out the colors very nicely!

try vitamin e oil. I've used it on all 5 of mine and never had a problem.

I don't think the cocoa butter will hurt if its pure. Beware that some lotions put other additives that can burn the heck out of a fresh tattoo!

are people getting tattoos in basements or something??
what is up with all these people not getting instructions from their artists?
my artist gives out aftercare do's & dont's before he even sets up his machines!!
if you have any questions, why would you chance asking people who some may not even have tattos themselves, instead of asking your artist?
a tattoo is permanant, so you want it to stay looking good forever, so ask a reputable tattoo shop about these kind of things.
that last thing you want is having to ask the question "i put cocoa butter on my tattoo and i got infected. HELP ME!!"
next time, please dont leave the shop without asking ANY & ALL QUESTIONS, and if you forget something, PLEASE CALL THE SHOP WHERE YOU GOT IT DONE!

but to answer your question, no, cocoa butter is not good for your new tattoo, use and unscented lotion!

I have 4 tattoos and after I got all of them done, I bought Jergens lotion (unsented). It works the best and it heals it better. Use the cocoa butter lotion about a week or so after you got it done.

No! The best solution is to put Lubriderm lotion on your tattoo. Cocoa Butter will fade your tattoo. You want to put Lubriderm on it for a straight 2 weeks.

Wait until the tattoo is fully healed. Coco butter can contain contaminants which could cause infection.
