No it isn't. Actually the temperature of the earth has only increased less than 7/10 of 1 degree (C) from 1880 to 2005. That is an increase of about 1 degree (F) in 125 years. You may choose to believe that is global warming or you may not. Here is a link taking you to a NASA chart showing that temperature chart. http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. Some say that 1 degree is enough to impact the global climate, others say it's not. Most proponents of global warming think the earth's temerature has risen much higher than that and don't even know that it has only risen by 1 degree. But the charts do not lie as do the proponents on both sides of this issue.
Back in the '70s all the hype was about global COOLING and another ice age was coming. I remember that they blamed pollution for that too. They said that all the pollution was darkening the skies and not as much sun was coming through so the earth was cooling off. It took several years but they discovered that they were mistaken. So when someone says, "the sky is falling" don't believe everything you hear on either side of the issue. There are Spin Doctors galore out there.
Most of the time people will form an opinion and not really be informed about the subject with which they become so opinionated about. So it's best that you not form your opinions from other's opinions, (as in this forum) but on the facts presented.

I hope that helps...

NO! The fact that global warming could be blamed for such a high increase in temperature is preposterous. Global warming only increases temperatures by about 1 degree every ten years. El Nino is the most likely culprit, preventing the Jet Stream to blow down from Canada bring the cold air and Nor-easters that are famous this time of year. Thats why all that snow got dumped out west, the storms went south too quickly and hit the Rockies, losing their moisture in the process. I think this spring you can expect lots of natural disasters, especially in Southern and Central America, caused by el Nino. Watch out, and go get some sun and enjoy it. This won't happen for another decade or so.

No, the globe is a very large place. More than that, weather is very unpredictable. Any study on global conditions must be based on tens of thousands of locations over many years to approach accuracy.
To clarify, global conditions will affect NY, but NY's local conditions will be far more influential.

If it particularly warmed up we'd start to observe much less chilly climate at extreme latitudes. that would take a great form of warming, probable 5-10 C or extra.the quantity of warming that we've experienced so some distance isn't adequate to avert chilly climates from experiencing chilly climate. chilly climate does not ensue because of the fact of world warming no longer happening or because of the fact of "international climate disruption." by way of a mix of organic and man made aspects, the Earth has warmed by potential of a few million C over the final century, so a place which will have been able to anticipate -40 C ought to now anticipate -39 C.

no, not global warming, probably el nino or other kind of weather phenomenon that happens every 10 years or so. if you recall, this has happened every so often, just long enough apart for politicians and newspapers to bring up global warming as a flashy topic again.

It's a combination of El Nino and global warming.

No, it's due to El Nino and the fact that its existence has not caused cold air blasts to come down from Canada yet this year.
