Light colors work great. White gets dirty too fast and too easy, so avoid it if you can uless it is an off white or eggshell white.

Light colors and neutrals. Stay away from a lot of patterns and dark colors as it will close up the room. My living room is spacious but shaped funny. The bottom is a sandy beige and the top is a very, very light blue. I added medium blue curtains and light brown carpet, same with furniture and I love the room!

The lighter you paint it(like off white - beige) the bigger it will seem. If you want a small room, paint it a solid strong dark color(brown, off green, blue, black) including the ceiling. If you were to use wallpaper, use lines that go horizontal on the wall will lengthen the wall, going up and down with the stripes will make it smaller and taller looking. I know it is 60-70's ish but you asked.

pastels like yellow and light blue probably, or white even though its boring. No dark colors or crazy patterns they will make the room look exxtremly small. Also, for me, a lot of natual sunlight helps make it feel spacious and fresh like.

try some pastel colors! dark colors are a reminder of dark places and closed in places. Light/ pastels colors represent lightness. brighten up areas. A light for that dark and closed areas.

Good luck!

Light colors and mirrors are your best bet.

A large mirror on the wall gives the impression of extra depth.

Light colors; I prefer light creamy yellow. or a sage green. It makes the room light, airy and spacious. Good luck

Neutrals and light colors will be best. And stay way from lots of activity in your accents. Maybe bring your bits of brighter bolder colors with those.
