there will not be a draft unless the survival of this country is at stake. Don't listen to the conspiracy theorists who say that many future wars are already planned. The military has contingency plans for all sorts of circumstances. That is just being prepared. Having a plan, say, for invading Canada, doesn't mean we intend to do it. It just means we are prepared should that eventuality arise. Better than getting caught with your pants down.
And don't listen to the fear mongers who are saying that Bush wants a draft. The only person in government who has spoken positively of a draft is Rep. Rangel (a Democrat from New York) and he is a total loon.

No because people would protest the draft as they have protested the war by going straight to Washington D.C. down Pennsylvania Avenue. The National-Union believes the incentive draft is in effect, where volunteers come to the military to receive benefits in exchange for service, http://www.voteprimous.com

At the current events no. But there might be an impending conflict that might call for an immediate draft due to the strained nature of the military.

I do believe the draft will take effect again...soon. Bush needs warm bodies to perform his new plan. I also believe there is a rapidly growing number of young people finding houses of protection in Canada. I am absolutely outraged that we have lost more troops in Afghanistan and Iraq than we lost in 9/11.

No chance of any future draft. You can sleep easy. The military does not have the budget to pay the salaries of future draftees. The US spent $213 Billion last year in Iraq ($584 Million/day roughy) and is in tremendous debt to China to continue paying for this botched war plan. Everything boils down to cost and cost effectiveness and the current "war" in Iraq is never going to pay any dividend.

We had such a bad experience with the last draft that it would take a war on the scale on WWII for the government to do it again.
It's a shame really we should have the same system as Israel, where EVERYONE MUST serve at least 2 years.
as a condition of citizenship.

ok, I examine the article. the priority stems from the certainty that in the time of Fairfax county there's a call for that witness to the absentee grant information of existence by potential of way of signature. Now if certainly one of those requirement have been created from somebody balloting absentee who replaced into no longer in the militia I think of you would be asserting "Damned at once. i desire to make certain that signature... how do all of us comprehend that may no longer an unlawful alien balloting..." in my view i do no longer think of that militia votes could desire to have from now on weight than the different, and that i'm fairly useful if that Fairfax regulation replaced into getting used to envision yet another voter, it does not area you.

I hope not, but with the liberals in charge now, who knows.
It's funny that the only people talking about a draft is the Liberals. first as a scare tactic claiming that it is what the Republicans are trying to do. and now it IS the Democrats that are actually tryinf to do it.

all of our branches of service took a severe hit in the Vietnam war with deadbeats and losers. All of our Generals still remember that fact to this day and they will fight that one to the very end. They will find ways to get the good ones to enlist as long as they can .
