Some old man walks into town and opens up a shop called Needful Things. He's an evil old man, and has exactly what certain people in the town have been wanting all their lives: a rookie Mickie Mantel card, some other things.
He'll give it to them, but only if they do some hideos task that winds up turning them against each other. Like spreading dog feces on someone's clean linen, skinning someone's dog. Eventually everyone goes crazy with anger and bitterness.
In the end, they find out the old man is the devil.

Wow, I'm reluctant to answer, I need to think about how much I want to reveal. Good question though.-----maybe the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.....just to see if I could withstand the impact.
