What are your thoughts on the fight? I thought Peter really looked good. He is a much better fighter than he was a couple of years ago. If he gets his shot against Oleg Maskiev, Peter will knock that clown out within 3 rounds.

I was impressed with Peter. He looked to be in great shape and his jab and combinations were more fluid. And he is a powerful puncher that's getting better with his boxing ability and that makes for a dangerous combination. I think he will knock Maskaev out when they fight because Maskaev really has no defense and he gets hit too much, and against a hard puncher like Peter, that is a recipe for disaster. I hope these Heavyweights start unifying these belts now and bring a little respect back to the division. Peter just may be the guy to do it if he wins a title.

Yeah Peter looked good I still don't know if he can beat Wlad. As amazing a fighter as Toney is he can't stand up to the kind of punishment Peter inflicted on him. Every punch Peter landed even the jabs slowed Toney down. It wasn't that Toney was in bad shape it was that he was a heavyweight and his endurance gets crashed from pounding with a huge puncher like Peter.

Peter definitely looked sharp. He mixed his shots well and landed a surprising amount against the elusive Toney.

After Peter KO's Oleg I would like to see a rematch with Wlad.

i think of Shannon Briggs has spent too plenty time with the weights and not adequate sparring, working and cardio. Sam Peter on the different hand had not at all appeared extra perfect than in his final combat with James Toney. He took off weight and geared up up stamina and can positively outwork and out stay Shannon Briggs. the only hazard Briggs might have is to land a knock out punch yet i think of Peter has matured adequate to take a good punch and take care of against too a lot of them which does no longer be a complicated activity if Briggs positioned on a overall performance like he did while he won his identify. Sam Peter might win with seventh around TKO

Neither one of these fighters have any talent compared to past fighters and champions. The heavyweight division in boxing just sucks now. The Russians have the upperhand in it. I think the only decent heavyweight right now is..and I say this loosely Vladamir Kletzgo(sp) and he is not even as good as his brother was. I do predict and want Peter to win though for Toney is an ignorant racist bastard.

Peter is what the sport has been begging for since the Tyson era. A young, powerful, up and comer heavyweight that doesn't come from Eastern Europe. I think he's really good, but he needs better boxing skills before he can be considered a real champ.

I think the fight proved that Toney is over. At least he'll still be good for outlandish quotes and bizarro antics though!

well i thought peter looked much improved, he didn't throw as many rabbit punches as he did in the first fight. his handspeed seemed to improve plus he threw combinations. but this was against a small fat heavyweight in toney who couldn't hurt him, wasn't that elusive, and only fought in spurts. i'll be more impressed if peter can do what he did agaisnt toney against a legitimate heavyweight who can hurt him. plus something that peter needs to work on is defense. toney was getting in some big right hands that if toney had power, peter would have been in trouble. this could be a problem in the future but peters young, he can still learn. overall this fight was entertaining. i think either toney needs to hang them up or start losing weight, his conditioning and weight is what his problem is. his ideal weight should be 220 to 226 at the most.

Peter looked good. If in shape he should do fine against one of the Russians.
