Because it is the right thing to do.IF a man or woman did something great than died for it i would definitly honor that person,they the dead are not dead not by a longshot.We go to different planes when we die.I for one respect graveyards.

To remember that the person meant something to you and as long as you're still alive they will always be alive inside of you. And if you never knew them, to remember their cause if it was righteous and honorable.

it goes back many years we honor them because they were our family or firend and we pay them the respect that they deserve

Because if we cared for them we don't want to dishonor them. Put yourself in their place(although they are dead).
